Context of Zechariah 10:6
4From them will come the cornerstone, From them the tent peg, From them the bow of battle, From them every ruler, all of them together. 5They will be as mighty men, Treading down the enemy in the mire of the streets in battle; And they will fight, for the Lord will be with them; And the riders on horses will be put to shame. I will strengthen the house of Judah, And I will save the house of Joseph, And I will bring them back, Because I have had compassion on them; And they will be as though I had not rejected them, For I am the Lord their God and I will answer them. 7Ephraim will be like a mighty man, And their heart will be glad as if from wine; Indeed, their children will see it and be glad, Their heart will rejoice in the Lord. 8I will whistle for them to gather them together, For I have redeemed them; And they will be as numerous as they were before.

Commentaries on Zechariah 10:6
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6I will strengthen the house of Judah - I doubt whether the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth verses are not to be understood of the future ingathering of the Jews in the times of the Gospel. See Jeremiah 3:14; Jeremiah 23:6; Hosea 1:2; Hosea 6:11.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6I will bring them again to place them - Zechariah seems to have condensed into one word two of Jeremiah, “I will bring them again” unto this place, and “I will cause them to dwell” safely Jeremiah 32:37. Kimchi. It is not a confusion of forms, but the blending of two words into one. So also Ibn Ezra): “The two ideas are here both implied, he will cause them to return to their land, and will cause them to dwell there in peace and security.” For I will have…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 6-12Verses 6-12 Here are precious promises to the people of God, which look to the state of the Jews, and even to the latter days of the church. Preaching the gospel is God's call for souls to come to Jesus Christ. Those whom Christ redeemed by his blood, God will gather by his grace. Difficulties shall be got over easily, and effectually, as those in the way of the deliverance out of Egypt. God himself will be their strength, and their song. When we resist…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6save: This Hebrew word is also used for the escape from Egypt (see Exodus 14:30). Salvation and victory come from God (Psalm 3:8; Isaiah 63:1). God saves and restores his people, Israel, because of his compassion (see Exodus 33:19; Psalms 103:13; 111:4; Lamentations 3:32).Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 66. Judah ... Joseph--that is, the ten tribes. The distinct mention of both Judah and Israel shows that there is yet a more complete restoration than that from Babylon, when Judah alone and a few Israelites from the other tribes returned. The Maccabean deliverance is here connected with it, just as the painter groups on the same canvas objects in the foreground and hills far distant; or as the comparatively near planet and the remote fixed star are seen…Read the comment
