Matthew 16:19-28

19I will give you 1the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and 2whatever you bind on earth 3shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth 4shall have been loosed in heaven.” 205Then He 6warned the disciples that they should tell no one that He was 78the Christ.

219From that time 10Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and 11suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day. 22Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “12God forbid it, Lord! This shall never 13happen to You.” 23But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, 14Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on 15God’s interests, but man’s.”

24Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and 16take up his cross and follow Me. 25For 17whoever wishes to save his 18life will lose it; but whoever loses his 19life for My sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27For the 20Son of Man 21is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and 22will then 23repay every man according to his 24deeds.

28“Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the 25Son of Man 26coming in His kingdom.”
