John 7:32-45
32The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent 1officers to 2seize Him. 33Therefore Jesus said, “3For a little while longer I am with you, then 4I go to Him who sent Me. 345You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.” 356The Jews then said to one another, “7Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to 8the Dispersion among 9the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He? 36What is this statement that He said, ‘10You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come’?”
37Now on 11the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “1213If anyone is thirsty, 14let him come to Me and drink. 38He who believes in Me, 15as the Scripture said, ‘From 16his innermost being will flow rivers of 17living water.’” 39But this He spoke 18of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for 19the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet 20glorified.
40Some of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying, “This certainly is 21the Prophet.” 41Others were saying, “This is 22the Christ.” Still others were saying, “23Surely 24the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He? 42Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from 25the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” 43So 26a division occurred in the crowd because of Him. 4427Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
45The 28officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?”
