John 4:1-9
1Therefore when 1the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and 2baptizing more disciples than John 2(although 3Jesus Himself was not baptizing, but His 4disciples were), 3He left 5Judea and went away 6again into Galilee. 4And He had to pass through 7Samaria. 5So He came to a city of 8Samaria called Sychar, near 9the parcel of ground that 10Jacob gave to his son Joseph; 6and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about 11the sixth hour.
7There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” 8For His 12disciples had gone away into 13the city to buy food. 9Therefore the 14Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For 15Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
