Job 22:1-11

1Then Eliphaz the Temanite 1responded,2“Can a vigorous 2man be of use to God, Or a wise man be useful to himself?3Is there any pleasure to 3the Almighty if you are righteous, Or profit if you make your ways perfect?4Is it because of your 4reverence that He reproves you, That He 5enters into judgment against you?5Is not 6your wickedness great, And your iniquities without end?6For you have 7taken pledges of your brothers without cause, And 8stripped 9men naked.7To the weary you have 10given no water to drink, And from the hungry you have 11withheld bread.8But the earth 12belongs to the 13mighty man, And 14the honorable man dwells in it.9You have sent 15widows away empty, And the 16strength of the 17orphans has been crushed.10Therefore 18snares surround you, And sudden 19dread terrifies you,11Or 20darkness, so that you cannot see, And an 21abundance of water covers you.
