Context of Job 20:27
25It is drawn forth and comes out of his back, Even the glittering point from his gall. Terrors come upon him, 26Complete darkness is held in reserve for his treasures, And unfanned fire will devour him; It will consume the survivor in his tent. The heavens will reveal his iniquity, And the earth will rise up against him. 28The increase of his house will depart; His possessions will flow away in the day of His anger. 29This is the wicked man’s portion from God, Even the heritage decreed to him by God.”

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 27The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him - Another allusion, if I mistake not, to the destruction of Korah and his company. The heaven revealed their iniquity; God declared out of heaven his judgment of their rebellion. "And the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the congregation;" Numbers 16:20, etc. And then the earth rose up against them. "The ground clave asunder that was under them, and the earth opened her mouth…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 27The heaven shall reveal his iniquity - The meaning here is, that the whole creation would conspire against such a man. Heaven and earth would be arrayed against him. The course of events would be so ordered as to seem designed to bring his character out, and to show what he was. He would attempt to conceal his sin, but it would be in vain. He would hide it in his bosom, but it would be developed. He would put on the air of piety and innocence, but his…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 23-29Verses 23-29 Zophar, having described the vexations which attend wicked practices, shows their ruin from God's wrath. There is no fence against this, but in Christ, who is the only Covert from the storm and tempest, Is 32:2. Zophar concludes, "This is the portion of a wicked man from God;" it is allotted him. Never was any doctrine better explained, or worse applied, than this by Zophar, who intended to prove Job a hypocrite. Let us receive the good…Read the comment
