Jeremiah 48:16-25
16“The disaster of Moab will 1soon come, And his calamity has swiftly hastened.17Mourn for him, all you who live around him, Even all of you who know his name; Say, ‘How has the mighty 23scepter been broken, A staff of splendor!’184Come down from your glory And sit 5on the parched ground, O 6daughter dwelling in 7Dibon, For the destroyer of Moab has come up against you, He has ruined your strongholds.19Stand by the road and keep watch, O inhabitant of 8Aroer; 9Ask him who flees and her who escapes And say, ‘What has happened?’20Moab has been put to shame, for it has been 10shattered. Wail and cry out; Declare by the 11Arnon That Moab has been destroyed.
21“Judgment has also come upon the plain, upon Holon, 12Jahzah and against 13Mephaath, 22against Dibon, Nebo and Beth-diblathaim, 23against Kiriathaim, Beth-gamul and 14Beth-meon, 24against 15Kerioth, Bozrah and all the cities of the land of Moab, far and near. 25The 16horn of Moab has been cut off and his 17arm broken,” declares the Lord.
