Isaiah 28:16-22
16Therefore thus says the Lord 1God, “2Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested 3stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, 4firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be 5disturbed.17I will make 6justice the measuring line And righteousness the level; Then 7hail will sweep away the refuge of lies And the waters will overflow the secret place.18Your 8covenant with death will be 910canceled, And your pact with Sheol will not stand; When the 11overwhelming scourge passes through, Then you become its 12trampling place.19As 13often as it passes through, it will 14seize you; For 15morning after morning it will pass through, anytime during the day or night, And it will be 16sheer 17terror to understand 18what it means.”20The bed is too short on which to stretch out, And the 19blanket is too 20small to wrap oneself in.21For the Lord will rise up as at Mount 21Perazim, He will be stirred up as in the valley of 22Gibeon, To do His 23task, His 2425unusual task, And to work His work, His 26extraordinary work.22And now do not carry on as 27scoffers, Or your fetters will be made stronger; For I have heard from the Lord 28God of hosts Of decisive 29destruction on all the earth.
