Isaiah 17:3-11
3The 12fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, And 3sovereignty from Damascus And the remnant of Aram; They will be like the 4glory of the sons of Israel,” Declares the Lord of hosts.
4Now in that day the 5glory of Jacob will 6fade, And 7the fatness of his flesh will become lean.5It will be 8even like the 9reaper gathering the standing grain, As his arm harvests the ears, Or it will be like one gleaning ears of grain In the 10valley of Rephaim.6Yet 11gleanings will be left in it like the 12shaking of an olive tree, Two or three olives on the topmost bough, Four or five on the branches of a fruitful tree, Declares the Lord, the God of Israel.7In that day man will 13have regard for his Maker And his eyes will look to the Holy One of Israel.8He will not have regard for the 14altars, the work of his hands, Nor will he look to that which his 15fingers have made, Even the 1617Asherim and 18incense stands.9In that day 19their strong cities will be like 20forsaken places in the forest, Or like 21branches which they abandoned before the sons of Israel; And 22the land will be a desolation.10For 23you have forgotten the 24God of your salvation And have not remembered the 25rock of your refuge. Therefore you plant delightful plants And set them with vine slips of a strange god.11In the day that you plant it you carefully fence it in, And in the 26morning you bring your seed to blossom; But the harvest will 27be a heap In a day of sickliness and incurable pain.
