Hebrews 9:7-25
7but into 1the second, only 2the high priest enters 3once a year, 4not without taking blood, which he 5offers for himself and for the 67sins of the people committed in ignorance. 88The Holy Spirit is signifying this, 9that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the 10outer tabernacle is still standing, 9which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly 11both gifts and sacrifices are offered which 12cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10since they relate only to 13food and 14drink and various 15washings, 16regulations for the 17body imposed until 18a time of reformation.
11But when Christ appeared as a 19high priest of the 20good things 21to come, He entered through 22the greater and more perfect 23tabernacle, 24not made with hands, that is to say, 25not of this creation; 12and not through 26the blood of goats and calves, but 27through His own blood, He 28entered the holy place 29once for all, 30having obtained 31eternal redemption. 13For if 32the blood of goats and bulls and 33the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the 34cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will 35the blood of Christ, who through 3637the eternal Spirit 38offered Himself without blemish to God, 39cleanse 40your conscience from 41dead works to serve 42the living God?
15For this reason 43He is the 44mediator of a 45new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been 46called may 47receive the promise of 48the eternal inheritance. 16For where a 49covenant is, there must of necessity 50be the death of the one who made it. 17For a 51covenant is valid only when 52men are dead, 53for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. 18Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19For when every commandment had been 54spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, 55he took the 56blood of the calves and the goats, with 57water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both 58the book itself and all the people, 20saying, “59This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” 21And in the same way he 60sprinkled both the 61tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22And according to the 62Law, one may 63almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and 64without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
23Therefore it was necessary for the 65copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but 66the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ 67did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of 68the true one, but into 69heaven itself, now 70to appear in the presence of God for us; 25nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as 71the high priest enters 72the holy place 73year by year with blood that is not his own.
