Hebrews 9:13-28

13For if 1the blood of goats and bulls and 2the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the 3cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will 4the blood of Christ, who through 56the eternal Spirit 7offered Himself without blemish to God, 8cleanse 9your conscience from 10dead works to serve 11the living God?

15For this reason 12He is the 13mediator of a 14new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been 15called may 16receive the promise of 17the eternal inheritance. 16For where a 18covenant is, there must of necessity 19be the death of the one who made it. 17For a 20covenant is valid only when 21men are dead, 22for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. 18Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19For when every commandment had been 23spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, 24he took the 25blood of the calves and the goats, with 26water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both 27the book itself and all the people, 20saying, “28This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” 21And in the same way he 29sprinkled both the 30tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22And according to the 31Law, one may 32almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and 33without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

23Therefore it was necessary for the 34copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but 35the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ 36did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of 37the true one, but into 38heaven itself, now 39to appear in the presence of God for us; 25nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as 40the high priest enters 41the holy place 42year by year with blood that is not his own. 26Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since 43the foundation of the world; but now 44once at 45the consummation of the ages He has been 46manifested to put away sin 4748by the sacrifice of Himself. 27And inasmuch as 49it is 50appointed for men to die once and after this 51comes judgment, 28so Christ also, having been 52offered once to 53bear the sins of many, will appear 54a second time for 55salvation 56without reference to sin, to those who 57eagerly await Him.
