Hebrews 9:12-28

12and not through 1the blood of goats and calves, but 2through His own blood, He 3entered the holy place 4once for all, 5having obtained 6eternal redemption. 13For if 7the blood of goats and bulls and 8the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the 9cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will 10the blood of Christ, who through 1112the eternal Spirit 13offered Himself without blemish to God, 14cleanse 15your conscience from 16dead works to serve 17the living God?

15For this reason 18He is the 19mediator of a 20new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been 21called may 22receive the promise of 23the eternal inheritance. 16For where a 24covenant is, there must of necessity 25be the death of the one who made it. 17For a 26covenant is valid only when 27men are dead, 28for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. 18Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19For when every commandment had been 29spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, 30he took the 31blood of the calves and the goats, with 32water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both 33the book itself and all the people, 20saying, “34This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” 21And in the same way he 35sprinkled both the 36tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22And according to the 37Law, one may 38almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and 39without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

23Therefore it was necessary for the 40copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but 41the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ 42did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of 43the true one, but into 44heaven itself, now 45to appear in the presence of God for us; 25nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as 46the high priest enters 47the holy place 48year by year with blood that is not his own. 26Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since 49the foundation of the world; but now 50once at 51the consummation of the ages He has been 52manifested to put away sin 5354by the sacrifice of Himself. 27And inasmuch as 55it is 56appointed for men to die once and after this 57comes judgment, 28so Christ also, having been 58offered once to 59bear the sins of many, will appear 60a second time for 61salvation 62without reference to sin, to those who 63eagerly await Him.
