Hebrews 9:11-28

11But when Christ appeared as a 1high priest of the 2good things 3to come, He entered through 4the greater and more perfect 5tabernacle, 6not made with hands, that is to say, 7not of this creation; 12and not through 8the blood of goats and calves, but 9through His own blood, He 10entered the holy place 11once for all, 12having obtained 13eternal redemption. 13For if 14the blood of goats and bulls and 15the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the 16cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will 17the blood of Christ, who through 1819the eternal Spirit 20offered Himself without blemish to God, 21cleanse 22your conscience from 23dead works to serve 24the living God?

15For this reason 25He is the 26mediator of a 27new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been 28called may 29receive the promise of 30the eternal inheritance. 16For where a 31covenant is, there must of necessity 32be the death of the one who made it. 17For a 33covenant is valid only when 34men are dead, 35for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. 18Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19For when every commandment had been 36spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, 37he took the 38blood of the calves and the goats, with 39water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both 40the book itself and all the people, 20saying, “41This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” 21And in the same way he 42sprinkled both the 43tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22And according to the 44Law, one may 45almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and 46without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

23Therefore it was necessary for the 47copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but 48the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ 49did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of 50the true one, but into 51heaven itself, now 52to appear in the presence of God for us; 25nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as 53the high priest enters 54the holy place 55year by year with blood that is not his own. 26Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since 56the foundation of the world; but now 57once at 58the consummation of the ages He has been 59manifested to put away sin 6061by the sacrifice of Himself. 27And inasmuch as 62it is 63appointed for men to die once and after this 64comes judgment, 28so Christ also, having been 65offered once to 66bear the sins of many, will appear 67a second time for 68salvation 69without reference to sin, to those who 70eagerly await Him.
