Hebrews 11:35-39

35 1Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their 2release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; 36and others 3experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also 4chains and imprisonment. 37They were 5stoned, they were 6sawn in two, 7they were tempted, they were 8put to death with the sword; they went about 9in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, 10ill-treated 38(men of whom the world was not worthy), 11wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes 12in the ground.

39And all these, having 13 14gained approval through their faith, 15did not receive 16what was promised,
