Galatians 3:13-29
13Christ 1redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, “2Cursed is everyone who hangs on 3a 4tree”-- 14in order that 5in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might 6come to the Gentiles, so that we 7would receive 8the promise of the Spirit through faith.
159Brethren, 10I speak 11in terms of human relations: 12even though it is only a man’s 13covenant, yet when it has been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds 14conditions to it. 16Now the promises were spoken 15to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “16And to your seed,” that is, Christ. 17What I am saying is this: the Law, which came 17four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. 18For 18if the inheritance is 19based on law, it is no longer 20based on a promise; but 21God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.
1922Why the Law then? It was added 23because of transgressions, having been 24ordained through angels 25by the 26agency of a mediator, until 27the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. 20Now 28a mediator is not 29for one party only; whereas God is only one. 21Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? 30May it never be! For 31if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness 32would indeed have been 33based on law. 22But the Scripture has 34shut up 35everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, 36being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. 24Therefore the Law has become our 37tutor to lead us to Christ, so that 38we may be justified by faith. 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a 3940tutor. 26For you are all 41sons of God through faith in 42Christ Jesus. 27For all of you who were 43baptized into Christ have 44clothed yourselves with Christ. 2845There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is 46neither male nor female; for 47you are all one in 48Christ Jesus. 29And if 49you 50belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s 51descendants, heirs according to 52promise.
