2 Peter 3:4-10
4and saying, “1Where is the promise of His 2coming? For ever since the fathers 3fell asleep, all continues just as it was 4from the beginning of creation.” 5For 5when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that 6by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was 7formed out of water and by water, 6through which 8the world at that time was 9destroyed, being flooded with water. 7But by His word 10the present heavens and earth are being reserved for 11fire, kept for 12the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
8But do not let this one fact escape your notice, 13beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and 14a thousand years like one day. 915The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but 16is patient toward you, 17not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 10But 18the day of the Lord 19will come like a thief, in which 20the heavens 21will pass away with a roar and the 22elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and 23the earth and 24its works will be 25burned up.
