1 Timothy 3:1-7

11It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the 2office of 3overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do. 245An overseer, then, must be above reproach, 6the husband of one wife, 7temperate, prudent, respectable, 8hospitable, 9able to teach, 310not addicted to wine 11or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, 12free from the love of money. 4He must be one who 13manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity 5(but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of 14the church of God?), 6and not a new convert, so that he will not become 15conceited and fall into the 16condemnation 17incurred by the devil. 7And he must 18have a good reputation with 19those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and 20the snare of the devil.
