1 Thessalonians 2:3-12
3For our 1exhortation does not come from 2error or 3impurity or 4by way of 5deceit; 46but just as we have been approved by God to be 7entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, 8not as pleasing men, but God who 910examines our hearts. 5For we never came 11with flattering speech, as you know, nor with 12a pretext for greed--13God is witness-- 6nor did we 14seek glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as 15apostles of Christ 16we might have 17asserted our authority. 7But we 18proved to be 1920gentle 21among you, 22as a nursing mother 23tenderly cares for her own children. 8Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to 24impart to you not only the 25gospel of God but also our own 26lives, because you had become 27very dear to us.
9For you recall, brethren, our 28labor and hardship, how 29working night and day so as not to be a 30burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the 31gospel of God. 10You are witnesses, and so is 32God, 33how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we 34behaved toward you 35believers; 11just as you know how we were 36exhorting and encouraging and 3738imploring each one of you as 39a father would his own children, 12so that you would 40walk in a manner worthy of the God who 41calls you into His own kingdom and 42glory.
