Thessalonians 1:2-10

1We give thanks to God always for all of you, 2making mention of you in our prayers;

constantly bearing in mind your 3work of faith and labor of 4love and 5 6steadfastness of hope 7in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of 8our God and Father,

knowing, 9brethren beloved by God, 10His choice of you;

for our 11gospel did not come to you in word only, but also 12in power and in the Holy Spirit and with 13full conviction; just as you know 14what kind of men we 15proved to be among you for your sake.

You also became 16imitators of us and of the Lord, 17having received 18the word in much tribulation with the 19joy of the Holy Spirit,

so that you became an example to all the believers in 20Macedonia and in 21Achaia.

For 22the word of the Lord has 23sounded forth from you, not only in 24Macedonia and 25Achaia, but also 26in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything.

For they themselves report about us what kind of a 27 28reception we had 29with you, and how you 30turned to God 31from 32idols to serve 33 34a living and true God,

and to 35wait for His Son from 36heaven, whom He 37raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who 38rescues us from 39the wrath to come.
