1 John 5:3-21

3For 1this is the love of God, that we 2keep His commandments; and 3His commandments are not burdensome. 4For whatever is 45born of God 6overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

5Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who 7believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6This is the One who came 8by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not 9with the water only, but 10with the water and 11with the blood. It is 12the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are 13three that testify: 814the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are 15in agreement. 916If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that 17He has testified concerning His Son. 10The one who believes in the Son of God 18has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has 19made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11And the testimony is this, that God has given us 20eternal life, and 21this life is in His Son. 1222He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

1323These things I have written to you who 24believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have 25eternal life. 14This is 26the confidence which we have 27before Him, that, 28if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, 29we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

16If anyone sees his brother 30committing a sin not leading to death, 31he shall ask and 32God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. 33There is a sin leading to death; 34I do not say that he should make request for this. 1735All unrighteousness is sin, and 36there is a sin not leading to death.

1837We know that 38no one who is 39born of God sins; but He who was 40born of God 41keeps him, and 42the evil one does not 43touch him. 1944We know that 45we are of God, and that 46the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20And 47we know that 48the Son of God has come, and has 49given us understanding so that we may know 50Him who is true; and we 51are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. 52This is the true God and 53eternal life.
