1 Corinthians 1:12-31
12Now I mean this, that 1each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and “I of 2Apollos,” and “I of 3Cephas,” and “I of Christ.” 134Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you 5baptized 6in the name of Paul? 147I thank God that I 8baptized none of you except 9Crispus and 10Gaius, 15so that no one would say you were baptized 11in my name. 16Now I did baptize also the 12household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 1713For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, 14not in 15cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.
18For the word of the cross is 16foolishness to 17those who 18are perishing, but to us who 19are being saved it is 20the power of God. 19For it is written, “21I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.” 2022Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 23this age? Has not God 24made foolish the wisdom of 25the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God 26the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, 27God was well-pleased through the 28foolishness of the 29message preached to 30save those who believe. 22For indeed 31Jews ask for 32signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23but we preach 3334Christ crucified, 35to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles 36foolishness, 24but to those who are 37the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ 38the power of God and 39the wisdom of God. 25Because the 40foolishness of God is wiser than men, and 41the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26For 42consider your 43calling, brethren, that there were 44not many wise according to 45the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27but 46God has chosen the foolish things of 47the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of 48the world to shame the things which are strong, 28and the base things of 49the world and the despised God has chosen, 50the things that are not, so that He may 51nullify the things that are, 29so that 52no 53man may boast before God. 30But 54by His doing you are in 55Christ Jesus, who became to us 56wisdom from God, 57and 58righteousness and 59sanctification, and 60redemption, 31so that, just as it is written, “61Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
