1Behold, the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068maketh the earthהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776emptyבּוֹקֵ֥קbo.KekH1238,and maketh it wasteוּבֽוֹלְקָ֑הּu.Vol.KahH1110,and turnethוְעִוָּ֣הve.'i.VahH5753it upside downפָנֶ֔יהָfa.Nei.haH6440,and scattereth abroadוְהֵפִ֖יץve.he.FitzH6327the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃yo.she.Vei.haH3427thereof.

2And it shall be, as with the peopleכָעָם֙kha.'AmH5971,so with the priestכַּכֹּהֵ֔ןka.ko.HenH3548;as with the servantכַּעֶ֙בֶד֙ka.'E.vedH5650,so with his masterכַּֽאדֹנָ֔יוka.do.NavH113;as with the maidכַּשִּׁפְחָ֖הka.shif.ChahH8198,so with her mistressכַּגְּבִרְתָּ֑הּka.ge.vir.TahH1404;as with the buyerכַּקּוֹנֶה֙ka.ko.NehH7069,so with the sellerכַּמּוֹכֵ֔רka.mo.KherH4376;as with the lenderכַּמַּלְוֶה֙ka.mal.VehH3867,so with the borrowerכַּלֹּוֶ֔הka.lo.VehH3867;as with the taker of usuryכַּנֹּשֶׁ֕הka.no.ShehH5383,soכַּאֲשֶׁ֖רka.'a.SherH834with the giver of usuryנֹשֶׁ֥אno.She'H5378to him.

4The earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776mournethאָבְלָ֤ה'a.ve.LahH56andfadeth awayנָֽבְלָה֙na.ve.LahH5034,the worldתֵּבֵ֑לte.VelH8398languishethאֻמְלְלָ֥ה'um.le.LahH535andfadeth awayנָבְלָ֖הna.ve.LahH5034,the haughtyמְר֥וֹםme.RomH4791peopleעַם־'am-H5971of the earthהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776do languishאֻמְלָ֖לוּ'um.La.luH535.

5The earthוְהָאָ֥רֶץve.ha.'A.retzH776also is defiledחָנְפָ֖הcha.ne.FahH2610under the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָyo.she.Vei.haH3427thereof; because they have transgressedעָבְר֤וּ'a.ve.RuH5674the lawsתוֹרֹת֙to.RotH8451,changedחָ֣לְפוּChal.fuH2498the ordinanceחֹ֔קChokH2706,brokenהֵפֵ֖רוּhe.Fe.ruH6565the everlastingעוֹלָֽם׃o.LamH5769covenantבְּרִ֥יתbe.RitH1285.

6Therefore hath the curseאָלָה֙'a.LahH423devouredאָ֣כְלָה'A.khe.lahH398the earthאֶ֔רֶץ'E.retzH776,and they that dwellיֹ֣שְׁבֵיYo.she.veiH3427therein are desolateוַֽיֶּאְשְׁמ֖וּvai.ye'.she.MuH816:therefore the inhabitantsיֹ֣שְׁבֵיYo.she.veiH3427of the earthאֶ֔רֶץ'E.retzH776are burnedחָרוּ֙cha.RuH2787,and fewמִזְעָֽר׃miz.'ArH4213menאֱנ֖וֹשׁ'e.No.oshH582leftוְנִשְׁאַ֥רve.nish.'ArH7604.

7The new wineתִּיר֖וֹשׁti.Ro.oshH8492mournethאָבַ֥ל'a.ValH56,the vineגָ֑פֶןGa.fenH1612languishethאֻמְלְלָה־'um.le.lah-H535,all the merryheartedשִׂמְחֵי־ לֵֽב׃sim.chei- LevH3820 H8056do sighנֶאֶנְח֖וּne.'en.ChuH584.

8The mirthמְשׂ֣וֹשׂme.SosH4885of tabretsתֻּפִּ֔יםtu.PimH8596ceasethשָׁבַת֙sha.VatH7673,the noiseשְׁא֣וֹןshe.'onH7588of them that rejoiceעַלִּיזִ֑ים'a.li.ZimH5947endethחָדַ֖לcha.DalH2308,the joyמְשׂ֥וֹשׂme.SosH4885of the harpכִּנּֽוֹר׃ki.NorH3658ceasethשָׁבַ֖תsha.VatH7673.

9They shall not drinkיִשְׁתּוּ־yish.tu-H8354wineיָ֑יִןYa.yinH3196with a songבַּשִּׁ֖ירba.ShirH7892;strong drinkשֵׁכָ֖רshe.KharH7941shall be bitterיֵמַ֥רye.MarH4843to them that drinkלְשֹׁתָֽיו׃le.sho.TavH8354it.

10The cityקִרְיַת־kir.yat-H7151of confusionתֹּ֑הוּTo.huH8414is broken downנִשְׁבְּרָ֖הnish.be.RahH7665:every houseבַּ֖יִתBa.yitH1004is shut upסֻגַּ֥רsu.GarH5462,that no man may come inמִבּֽוֹא׃mi.Bo'H935.

11There isa cryingצְוָחָ֥הtze.va.ChahH6682for wineהַיַּ֖יִןhai.Ya.yinH3196in the streetsבַּֽחוּצ֑וֹתba.chu.TzotH2351;all joyשִׂמְחָ֔הsim.ChahH8057is darkenedעָֽרְבָה֙'a.re.VahH6150,the mirthמְשׂ֥וֹשׂme.SosH4885of the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776is goneגָּלָ֖הga.LahH1540.

12In the cityבָּעִ֖ירba.'IrH5892is leftנִשְׁאַ֥רnish.'ArH7604desolationשַׁמָּ֑הsha.MahH8047,and the gateשָֽׁעַר׃Sha.'arH8179is smittenיֻכַּת־yu.kat-H3807with destructionוּשְׁאִיָּ֖הu.she.'i.YahH7591.

13When thus it shall be in the midstבְּקֶ֥רֶבbe.Ke.revH7130of the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776amongבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the peopleהָֽעַמִּ֑יםha.'a.MimH5971, there shall beas the shakingכְּנֹ֣קֶףke.No.kefH5363of an olive treeזַ֔יִתZa.yitH2132, andas the gleaning grapesכְּעוֹלֵלֹ֖תke.'o.le.LotH5955when the vintageבָצִֽיר׃va.TzirH1210is doneכָּלָ֥הka.LahH3615.

14They shall lift upיִשְׂא֥וּyis.'UH5375their voiceקוֹלָ֖םko.LamH6963,they shall singיָרֹ֑נּוּya.Ro.nuH7442for the majestyבִּגְא֣וֹןbig.'onH1347of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,they shall cry aloudצָהֲל֖וּtza.ha.LuH6670from the seaמִיָּֽם׃mi.YamH3220.

15Wherefore glorifyכַּבְּד֣וּka.be.DuH3513ye the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068in the firesבָּאֻרִ֖יםba.'u.RimH217, eventhe nameשֵׁ֥םshemH8034of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ סYis.ra.'ElH3478in the islesבְּאִיֵּ֣יbe.'i.YeiH339of the seaהַיָּ֔םhai.YamH3220.

18And it shall come to pass, thathe who fleethהַנָּ֞סha.NasH5127from the noiseמִקּ֤וֹלmi.KolH6963of the fearהַפַּ֙חַד֙ha.Pa.chadH6343shall fallיִפֹּ֣לyi.PolH5307into the pitהַפַּ֔חַתha.Pa.chatH6354;and he that cometh upוְהָֽעוֹלֶה֙ve.ha.'o.LehH5927out of the midstמִתּ֣וֹךְmi.TokhH8432of the pitהַפַּ֔חַתha.Pa.chatH6354shall be takenיִלָּכֵ֖דyi.la.KhedH3920in the snareבַּפָּ֑חba.PachH6341:for the windowsאֲרֻבּ֤וֹת'a.ru.BotH699from on highמִמָּרוֹם֙mi.ma.rOmH4791are openנִפְתָּ֔חוּnif.Ta.chuH6605,and the foundationsH4146of the earthאָֽרֶץ׃'A.retzH776do shakeוַֽיִּרְעֲשׁ֖וּvai.yir.'a.ShuH7493.
