1And it came to pass after thisאַֽחֲרֵי־'a.cha.rei-H310,that Davidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732enquiredוַיִּשְׁאַל֩vai.yish.'AlH7592of the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֤ה׀ba.Yah.wehH3068,sayingלֵאמֹר֙le.MorH559,Shall I go upהַאֶעֱלֶ֗הha.'e.'e.LehH5927into anyבְּאַחַת֙be.'a.ChatH259of the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063?And the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Go upעֲלֵ֑ה'a.LehH5927.And Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Whither shall I go upאֶעֱלֶ֖ה'e.'e.LehH5927?And he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Unto Hebronחֶבְרֹֽנָה׃chev.Ro.nahH2275.

2So Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732went upוַיַּ֤עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927thither, and his twoשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147wivesנָשָׁ֑יוna.ShavH802also, Ahinoamאֲחִינֹ֙עַם֙'a.chi.No.'amH293the JezreelitessH3159,and Abigailוַאֲבִיגַ֕יִלva.'a.vi.Ga.yilH26Nabal’sנָבָ֥לna.ValH5037wifeאֵ֖שֶׁת'E.shetH802the Carmeliteהַֽכַּרְמְלִֽי׃Ha.kar.me.LiH3761.

3And his menוַאֲנָשָׁ֧יוva.'a.na.ShavH582that werewith him did Davidדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732bring upהֶעֱלָ֥הhe.'e.LahH5927,every manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376with his householdוּבֵית֑וֹu.vei.ToH1004:and they dweltוַיֵּשְׁב֖וּvai.ye.she.VuH3427in the citiesבְּעָרֵ֥יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Hebronחֶבְרֽוֹן׃chev.RonH2275.

4And the menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063cameוַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙vai.ya.Vo.'uH935,and there they anointedוַיִּמְשְׁחוּ־vai.yim.she.chu-H4886Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428over the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063.And they toldוַיַּגִּ֤דוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046Davidלְדָוִד֙le.da.VidH1732,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, Thatthe menאַנְשֵׁי֙'an.SheiH582of Jabesh–gileadיָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֔דya.Veish gil.'AdH1568 H3003were theythat buriedקָבְר֖וּka.ve.RuH6912Saulשָׁאֽוּל׃ סsha.'UlH7586.

5And Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִ֔יםmal.'a.KhimH4397unto the menאַנְשֵׁ֖י'an.SheiH582of Jabesh–gileadיָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֑דya.Veish gil.'AdH1568 H3003,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Blessedבְּרֻכִ֤יםbe.ru.KhimH1288beye of the Lordלַֽיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068,that ye have shewedעֲשִׂיתֶ֜ם'a.si.TemH6213this kindnessהַחֶ֣סֶדha.Che.sedH2617unto your lordאֲדֹֽנֵיכֶם֙'a.do.nei.KhemH113, evenunto Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586,and have buriedוַֽתִּקְבְּר֖וּva.tik.be.RuH6912him.

6And now the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068shewיַֽעַשׂ־ya.'as-H6213kindnessחֶ֣סֶדChe.sedH2617and truthוֶאֱמֶ֑תve.'e.MetH571unto you: and I also will requiteאֶעֱשֶׂ֤ה'e.'e.SehH6213you this kindnessהַטּוֹבָ֣הha.to.VahH2896,because ye have doneעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם'a.si.TemH6213this thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697.

7Therefore now let your handsיְדֵיכֶ֗םye.dei.KhemH3027be strengthenedתֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָהte.che.Zak.nahH2388,and be ye valiantלִבְנֵי־ חַ֔יִלliv.nei- Cha.yilH2428 H1121:for your masterאֲדֹנֵיכֶ֣ם'a.do.nei.KhemH113Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586is deadמֵ֖תmetH4191,and also the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֛הye.hu.DahH3063have anointedמָשְׁח֧וּma.she.ChuH4886me kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428over them.

8But Abnerוְאַבְנֵ֣רve.'av.NerH74the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nerנֵ֔רNerH5369,captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of Saul’sלְשָׁא֑וּלle.sha.'UlH7586hostצָבָ֖אtza.Va'H6635,tookלָקַ֗חla.KachH3947Ish–boshethH378the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586,and brought him overוַיַּעֲבִרֵ֖הוּvai.ya.'a.vi.Re.huH5674to Mahanaimמַחֲנָֽיִם׃ma.cha.Na.yimH4266;

9And made him kingוַיַּמְלִכֵ֙הוּ֙vai.yam.li.Khe.huH4427over Gileadהַגִּלְעָ֔דha.gil.'AdH1568,and over the Ashuritesהָאֲשׁוּרִ֖יha.'a.shu.RiH805,and over Jezreelיִזְרְעֶ֑אלyiz.re.'ElH3157,and over Ephraimאֶפְרַ֙יִם֙'ef.Ra.yimH669,and over Benjaminבִּנְיָמִ֔ןbin.ya.MinH1144,and over all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478.

11And the timeמִסְפַּ֣ר הַיָּמִ֔יםmis.Par hai.ya.MimH3117 H4557that Davidדָוִ֥דda.VidH1732was kingמֶ֛לֶךְMe.lekhH4428in Hebronבְּחֶבְר֖וֹןbe.chev.RonH2275over the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063was sevenשֶׁ֥בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשָׁנִ֖יםsha.NimH8141and sixוְשִׁשָּׁ֥הve.shi.ShahH8337monthsחֳדָשִֽׁים׃ סcho.da.ShimH2320.

12And Abnerאַבְנֵ֣ר'av.NerH74the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nerנֵ֔רNerH5369,and the servantsוְעַבְדֵ֖יve.'av.DeiH5650of Ish–boshethH378the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586,went outוַיֵּצֵא֙vai.ye.Tze'H3318from Mahanaimמִֽמַּחֲנַ֖יִםmi.ma.cha.Na.yimH4266to Gibeonגִּבְעֽוֹנָה׃giv.'o.nahH1391.

13And Joabוְיוֹאָ֨בve.yo.'AvH3097the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zeruiahצְרוּיָ֜הtze.ru.YahH6870,and the servantsוְעַבְדֵ֤יve.'av.DeiH5650of Davidדָוִד֙da.VidH1732,went outיָֽצְא֔וּya.tze.'UH3318,and metוַֽיִּפְגְּשׁ֛וּםvai.yif.ge.ShumH6298togetherיַחְדָּ֑וyach.DavH3162by the poolבְּרֵכַ֥תbe.re.KhatH1295of Gibeonגִּבְע֖וֹןgiv.'onH1391:and they sat downוַיֵּ֨שְׁב֜וּvai.Ye.she.VuH3427,the one on the one side of the poolהַבְּרֵכָה֙ha.be.re.KhahH1295,and the other on the other side of the poolהַבְּרֵכָ֖הha.be.re.KhahH1295.

14And Abnerאַבְנֵר֙'av.NerH74saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Joabיוֹאָ֔בyo.'AvH3097,Let the young menהַנְּעָרִ֔יםha.ne.'a.RimH5288now ariseיָק֤וּמוּya.Ku.muH6965,and playוִֽישַׂחֲק֖וּvi.sa.cha.KuH7832beforeלְפָנֵ֑ינוּle.fa.Nei.nuH6440us. And Joabיוֹאָ֖בyo.'AvH3097saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Let them ariseיָקֻֽמוּ׃ya.Ku.muH6965.

15Then there aroseוַיָּקֻ֖מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965and went overוַיַּעַבְר֣וּvai.ya.'av.RuH5674by numberבְמִסְפָּ֑רve.mis.ParH4557twelveשְׁנֵ֧ים עָשָׂ֣רshe.Neim 'a.SarH6240 H8147of Benjaminלְבִנְיָמִ֗ןle.vin.ya.MinH1144, which pertainedto Ish–boshethH378the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586,and twelveוּשְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖רu.she.Neim 'a.SarH6240 H8147of the servantsמֵעַבְדֵ֥יme.'av.DeiH5650of Davidדָוִֽד׃da.VidH1732.

16And they caughtוַֽיַּחֲזִ֜קוּvai.ya.cha.Zi.kuH2388every oneאִ֣ישׁ׀'ishH376his fellowרֵעֵ֗הוּre.'E.huH7453by the headבְּרֹ֣אשׁbe.RoshH7218, and thrusthis swordוְחַרְבּוֹ֙ve.char.BoH2719in his fellow’sרֵעֵ֔הוּre.'E.huH7453sideבְּצַ֣דbe.TzadH6654;so they fell downוַֽיִּפְּל֖וּvai.yi.pe.LuH5307togetherיַחְדָּ֑וyach.DavH3162:wherefore that placeלַמָּק֣וֹםla.ma.KomH4725was calledוַיִּקְרָא֙vai.yik.Ra'H7121Helkath–hazzurimH2521, which isin Gibeonבְּגִבְעֽוֹן׃be.giv.'onH1391.

17And there was a veryמְאֹ֖דme.'OdH3966soreקָשָׁ֥הka.ShahH7186battleהַמִּלְחָמָ֛הha.mil.cha.MahH4421that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117;and Abnerאַבְנֵר֙'av.NerH74was beatenוַיִּנָּ֤גֶףvai.yi.Na.gefH5062,and the menוְאַנְשֵׁ֣יve.'an.SheiH582of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the servantsעַבְדֵ֥י'av.DeiH5650of Davidדָוִֽד׃da.VidH1732.

18And there were threeשְׁלֹשָׁה֙she.lo.ShahH7969sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Zeruiahצְרוּיָ֔הtze.ru.YahH6870there, Joabיוֹאָ֥בyo.'AvH3097,and Abishaiוַאֲבִישַׁ֖יva.'a.vi.ShaiH52,and Asahelוַעֲשָׂהאֵ֑לva.'a.sa.h.'ElH6214:and Asahelוַעֲשָׂהאֵל֙va.'a.sa.h.'ElH6214was aslightקַ֣לkalH7031of footבְּרַגְלָ֔יוbe.rag.LavH7272as aכְּאַחַ֥דke.'a.ChadH259wildבַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ba.sa.DehH7704roeהַצְּבָיִ֖םha.tze.va.YimH6643.
