2Also in time pastאֶתְמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשׁ֗וֹם'et.Mol shil.ShomH8032 H865,when Saulשָׁא֥וּלsha.'UlH7586was kingמֶ֙לֶךְ֙Me.lekhH4428over us, thou wast he that leddest outהַמּוֹצִ֥יאha.mo.tzi'H3318and broughtest inוְהַמֵּבִ֖יאve.ha.me.vi'H935Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478:and the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to thee, Thou shalt feedתִרְעֶ֤הtir.'EhH7462my peopleעַמִּי֙'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and thou shalt be a captainלְנָגִ֖ידle.na.GidH5057over Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

6And the kingהַמֶּ֤לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428and his menוַֽאֲנָשָׁיו֙va.'a.na.ShavH582wentH3212to Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389unto the Jebusitesהַיְבֻסִ֖יhay.vu.SiH2983,the inhabitantsיוֹשֵׁ֣בyo.ShevH3427of the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776:which spakeוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Davidלְדָוִ֤דle.da.VidH1732,sayingלֵאמֹר֙le.MorH559,Except thou take awayהֱסִֽירְךָ֗he.si.re.KhaH5493the blindהַעִוְרִ֤יםha.'iv.RimH5787and the lameוְהַפִּסְחִים֙ve.ha.pis.ChimH6455,thou shalt not come inתָב֣וֹאta.Vo'H935hither: thinkingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,Davidדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732cannot come inיָב֥וֹאya.Vo'H935hither.

7Nevertheless Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732tookוַיִּלְכֹּ֣דvai.yil.KodH3920the strong holdמְצֻדַ֣תme.tzu.DatH4686of Zionצִיּ֑וֹןtzi.YonH6726: the same isthe cityעִ֥יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִֽד׃da.VidH1732.

8And Davidדָּוִ֜דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559on that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117,Whosoever getteth upוְיִגַּ֣עve.yi.Ga'H5060to the gutterבַּצִּנּ֔וֹרba.tzi.NorH6794,and smitethמַכֵּ֤הma.KehH5221the Jebusitesיְבֻסִי֙ye.vu.SiH2983,and the lameהַפִּסְחִים֙ha.pis.ChimH6455and the blindהַ֣עִוְרִ֔יםha.'iv.RimH5787, that arehatedשְׂנֻאֵ֖יse.novH8130of David’sדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732soulנֶ֣פֶשׁNe.feshH5315, he shall be chief and captain.Wherefore they saidיֹֽאמְר֔וּyo.me.RuH559,The blindעִוֵּ֣ר'i.VerH5787and the lameוּפִסֵּ֔חַu.fi.Se.achH6455shall not comeיָב֖וֹאya.Vo'H935into the houseהַבָּֽיִת׃ha.Ba.yitH1004.

9So Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732dweltוַיֵּ֤שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in the fortבַּמְּצֻדָ֔הba.me.tzu.DahH4686,and calledוַיִּקְרָא־vai.yik.ra'-H7121it the cityעִ֣יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732.And Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732builtוַיִּ֤בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129round aboutסָבִ֔יבsa.VivH5439from Milloהַמִּלּ֖וֹאha.mi.Lo'H4407and inwardוָבָֽיְתָה׃va.Va.ye.tahH1004.

10And Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732wentH3212onH1980,and grew greatH1419,and the Lordוַיהוָ֛הva.Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of hostsצְבָא֖וֹתtze.va.'otH6635was with him.

11And Hiramחִירָ֨םchi.RamH2438kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Tyreצֹ֥רtzorH6865sentוַ֠יִּשְׁלַחVai.yish.lachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִים֮mal.'a.KhimH4397to Davidדָּוִד֒da.VidH1732,and cedarאֲרָזִ֔ים'a.ra.ZimH730treesH6086,and carpentersH2796,and masonsאֶ֣בֶן קִ֑יר'E.ven KirH68 H7023:and they builtוַיִּבְנֽוּ־vai.yiv.nu-H1129Davidלְדָוִֽד׃le.da.VidH1732an houseבַ֖יִתVa.yitH1004.

12And Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732perceivedוַיֵּ֣דַעvai.Ye.da'H3045that the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068had establishedהֱכִינ֧וֹhe.khi.NoH3559him kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428over Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and that he had exaltedנִשֵּׂ֣אni.Se'H5375his kingdomמַמְלַכְתּ֔וֹmam.lakh.ToH4467for his peopleעַמּ֥וֹa.MoH5971Israel’sיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ סYis.ra.'ElH3478sake.

13And Davidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732tookוַיִּקַּח֩vai.yi.KachH3947himmore concubinesפִּֽלַגְשִׁ֤יםpi.lag.ShimH6370and wivesוְנָשִׁים֙ve.na.ShimH802out of Jerusalemמִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םmi.Ru.sha.LimH3389,afterאַחֲרֵ֖י'a.cha.ReiH310he was comeבֹּא֣וֹbo.'OH935from Hebronמֵחֶבְר֑וֹןme.chev.RonH2275:and there were yet sonsבָּנִ֥יםba.NimH1121and daughtersוּבָנֽוֹת׃u.va.NotH1323bornוַיִּוָּ֥לְדּוּvai.yi.Val.duH3205to Davidלְדָוִ֖דle.da.VidH1732.

14And these bethe namesשְׁמ֛וֹתshe.MotH8034of those that were bornהַיִּלֹּדִ֥יםhai.yi.lo.DimH3209unto him in Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389;Shammuaשַׁמּ֣וּעַsha.Mu.a'H8051,and Shobabוְשׁוֹבָ֔בve.sho.VavH7727,and Nathanוְנָתָ֖ןve.na.TanH5416,and Solomonוּשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃u.she.lo.MohH8010,

15Ibharוְיִבְחָ֥רve.yiv.CharH2984also, and Elishuaוֶאֱלִישׁ֖וּעַve.'e.li.Shu.a'H474,and Nephegוְנֶ֥פֶגve.Ne.fegH5298,and Japhiaוְיָפִֽיעַ׃ve.ya.Fi.a'H3309,

16And Elishamaוֶאֱלִישָׁמָ֥עve.'e.li.sha.Ma'H476,and Eliadaוְאֶלְיָדָ֖עve.'el.ya.Da'H450,and Eliphaletוֶאֱלִיפָֽלֶט׃ פve.'e.li.Fa.letH467.

17But when the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֗יםfe.lish.TimH6430heardוַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּvai.yish.me.'UH8085that they had anointedמָשְׁח֨וּma.she.ChuH4886Davidדָּוִ֤דda.VidH1732kingלְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙le.Me.lekhH4428over Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,all the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יםpe.lish.TimH6430came upוַיַּעֲל֥וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927to seekלְבַקֵּ֣שׁle.va.KeshH1245Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732;and Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֣עvai.yish.Ma'H8085of it,and went downוַיֵּ֖רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381to the holdהַמְּצוּדָֽה׃ha.me.tzu.DahH4686.

18The Philistinesוּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖יםu.fe.lish.TimH6430also cameבָּ֑אוּBa.'uH935and spreadוַיִּנָּטְשׁ֖וּvai.yi.na.te.ShuH5203themselves in the valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Rephaimרְפָאִֽים׃re.fa.'ImH7497.

19And Davidדָּוִ֤דda.VidH1732enquiredוַיִּשְׁאַ֨לvai.yish.'AlH7592of the Lordבַּֽיהוָה֙ba.Yah.wehH3068,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,Shall I go upהַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ha.'e.'e.LehH5927to the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430?wilt thou deliverהֲתִתְּנֵ֖םha.ti.te.NemH5414them into mine handבְּיָדִ֑יbe.ya.DiH3027?And the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732,Go upעֲלֵ֔ה'a.LehH5927:for I will doubtlessנָתֹ֥ןna.TonH5414deliverאֶתֵּ֛ן'e.TenH5414the Philistinesהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יםha.pe.lish.TimH6430into thine handבְּיָדֶֽךָ׃be.ya.De.khaH3027.

20And Davidדָוִ֥דda.VidH1732cameוַיָּבֹ֨אvai.ya.Vo'H935to Baal–perazimH1188,and Davidדָּוִד֒da.VidH1732smoteוַיַּכֵּ֣םvai.ya.KemH5221them there, and saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,The Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068hath broken forthפָּרַ֨ץpa.RatzH6555upon mine enemiesאֹיְבַ֛י'o.ye.VaiH341beforeלְפָנַ֖יle.fa.NaiH6440me, as the breachכְּפֶ֣רֶץke.Fe.retzH6556of watersמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325.Therefore he calledקָרָ֛אka.Ra'H7121the nameשֵֽׁם־shem-H8034of that placeהַמָּק֥וֹםha.ma.KomH4725Baal–perazimH1188.

21And there they leftוַיַּעַזְבוּ־vai.ya.'az.vu-H5800their imagesעֲצַבֵּיהֶ֑ם'a.tza.bei.HemH6091,and Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732and his menוַאֲנָשָֽׁיו׃ פva.'a.na.ShavH582burnedוַיִּשָּׂאֵ֥םvai.yi.sa.'EmH5375them.

22And the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יםpe.lish.TimH6430came upלַֽעֲל֑וֹתla.'a.LotH5927yet againוַיֹּסִ֥פוּvai.yo.Si.fuH3254,and spreadוַיִּנָּֽטְשׁ֖וּvai.yi.na.te.ShuH5203themselves in the valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Rephaimרְפָאִֽים׃re.fa.'ImH7497.

23And when Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732enquiredוַיִּשְׁאַ֤לvai.yish.'AlH7592of the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֔הba.Yah.wehH3068,he saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Thou shalt not go upתַעֲלֶ֑הta.'a.LehH5927; butfetch a compassהָסֵב֙ha.SevH5437behindאַ֣חֲרֵיהֶ֔ם'a.cha.rei.HemH310them, and comeוּבָ֥אתָu.Va.taH935upon them over againstמִמּ֥וּלmi.MulH4136the mulberry treesבְּכָאִֽים׃be.kha.'ImH1057.

24And let it be, when thou hearestכְּֽשָׁמְעֲךָ֞ke.sha.me.'a.khaH8085the soundק֧וֹלKolH6963of a goingצְעָדָ֛הtze.'a.DahH6807in the topsבְּרָאשֵׁ֥יbe.ra.SheiH7218of the mulberry treesהַבְּכָאִ֖יםha.be.kha.'ImH1057,that then thou shalt bestirתֶּחֱרָ֑ץte.che.RatzH2782thyself: for then shall the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068go outיָצָ֤אya.Tza'H3318beforeלְפָנֶ֔יךָle.fa.Nei.khaH6440thee, to smiteלְהַכּ֖וֹתle.ha.KotH5221the hostבְּמַחֲנֵ֥הbe.ma.cha.NehH4264of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃fe.lish.TimH6430.

25And Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732did soוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213,as the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068had commandedצִוָּ֖הוּtzi.Va.huH6680him; and smoteוַיַּךְ֙vai.yaKhH5221the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430from Gebaמִגֶּ֖בַעmi.Ge.va'H1387until thou comeבֹּאֲךָ֥bo.'a.KhaH935to Gazerגָֽזֶר׃ פGa.zerH1507.
