1Afterאַחֲרֵ֨י'a.cha.ReiH310these thingsהַדְּבָרִ֤יםha.de.va.RimH1697,and the establishmentוְהָאֱמֶת֙ve.ha.'e.MetH571thereof, Sennacheribסַנְחֵרִ֣יבsan.che.RivH5576kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804cameבָּ֖אba'H935,and enteredוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935into Judahבִֽיהוּדָ֗הvi.hu.DahH3063,and encampedוַיִּ֙חַן֙vai.Yi.chanH2583against the fencedהַבְּצֻר֔וֹתha.be.tzu.RotH1219citiesהֶעָרִ֣יםhe.'a.RimH5892,and thoughtוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to winלְבִקְעָ֥םle.vik.'AmH1234them for himself.

2And when HezekiahH3169sawוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200that Sennacheribסַנְחֵרִ֑יבsan.che.RivH5576was comeבָ֖אva'H935,and that he was purposedוּפָנָ֕יוu.fa.NavH6440to fightלַמִּלְחָמָ֖הla.mil.cha.MahH4421against Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389,

3He took counselוַיִּוָּעַ֗ץvai.yi.va.'AtzH3289with his princesשָׂרָיו֙sa.RavH8269and his mighty menוְגִבֹּרָ֔יוve.gi.bo.RavH1368to stopלִסְתּוֹם֙lis.tOmH5640the watersמֵימֵ֣יmei.MeiH4325of the fountainsהָעֲיָנ֔וֹתha.'a.ya.NotH5869which werewithoutמִח֣וּץmi.ChutzH2351the cityלָעִ֑ירla.'IrH5892:and they did helpוַֽיַּעְזְרֽוּהוּ׃Vai.ya'.ze.Ru.huH5826him.

4So there was gatheredH6908muchרָ֔בRavH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971togetherH6908,who stoppedוַֽיִּסְתְּמוּ֙vai.yis.te.MuH5640all the fountainsהַמַּעְיָנ֔וֹתha.ma'.ya.NotH4599,and the brookהַנַּ֛חַלha.Na.chalH5158that ranהַשּׁוֹטֵ֥ףha.sho.TefH7857through the midstבְּתוֹךְ־be.tokh-H8432of the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,Why should the kingsמַלְכֵ֣יmal.KheiH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804comeיָב֙וֹאוּ֙ya.Vo.'uH935,and findוּמָצְא֖וּu.ma.tze.'UH4672muchרַבִּֽים׃ra.BimH7227waterמַ֥יִםMa.yimH4325?

5Also he strengthenedוַיִּתְחַזַּ֡קvai.yit.cha.ZakH2388himself, and built upוַיִּבֶן֩vai.yi.VenH1129all the wallהַחוֹמָ֨הha.cho.MahH2346that was brokenהַפְּרוּצָ֜הha.pe.ru.TzahH6555, and raised itupוַיַּ֣עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927to the towersהַמִּגְדָּל֗וֹתha.mig.da.LotH4026,and anotherאַחֶ֔רֶת'a.Che.retH312wallהַחוֹמָ֣הha.cho.MahH2346withoutוְלַח֙וּצָה֙ve.la.Chu.tzahH2351,and repairedוַיְחַזֵּ֥קvay.cha.ZekH2388Milloהַמִּלּ֖וֹאha.mi.Lo'H4407inthe cityעִ֣יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִ֑ידda.VidH1732,and madeוַיַּ֥עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213dartsשֶׁ֛לַחShe.lachH7973and shieldsוּמָגִנִּֽים׃u.ma.gi.NimH4043in abundanceלָרֹ֖בla.RoH7230.

6And he setוַיִּתֵּ֛ןvai.yi.TenH5414captainsשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269of warמִלְחָמ֖וֹתmil.cha.MotH4421over the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971,and gathered them togetherוַיִּקְבְּצֵ֣םvai.yik.be.TzemH6908to him in the streetרְחוֹב֙re.chOvH7339of the gateשַׁ֣עַרSha.'arH8179of the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892,and spakeוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696comfortablyלְבָבָ֖םle.va.VamH3824to them, sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

7Be strongחִזְק֣וּchiz.KuH2388and courageousוְאִמְצ֔וּve.'im.TzuH553,be not afraidתִּֽירְא֣וּti.re.'UH3372nor dismayedתֵּחַ֗תּוּte.Cha.tuH2865forH6440the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804,nor for all the multitudeהֶהָמ֣וֹןhe.ha.MonH1995that is with him: for there bemoreרַ֖בravH7227with us than with him:

8With him isan armזְר֣וֹעַze.Ro.a'H2220of fleshבָּשָׂ֔רba.SarH1320; but with us isthe Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙'e.lo.Hei.nuH430to helpלְעָזְרֵ֔נוּle.'a.ze.Re.nuH5826us, and to fightוּלְהִלָּחֵ֖םu.le.hi.la.ChemH3898our battlesמִלְחֲמֹתֵ֑נוּmil.cha.mo.Te.nuH4421.And the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971restedוַיִּסָּמְכ֣וּvai.yi.sa.me.KhuH5564themselves upon the wordsדִּבְרֵ֖יdiv.ReiH1697of HezekiahH3169kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ פye.hu.DahH3063.

9Afterאַ֣חַר'A.charH310this did Sennacheribסַנְחֵרִ֨יבsan.che.RivH5576kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֤וּר'a.ShurH804sendשָׁ֠לַחSha.lachH7971his servantsעֲבָדָיו֙'a.va.DavH5650to Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔יְמָהye.Ru.sha.Lay.mahH3389, (but he himself laid siegeagainst Lachishלָכִ֔ישׁla.KhishH3923,and all his powerמֶמְשַׁלְתּ֖וֹmem.shal.ToH4475with him,) unto HezekiahH3169kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063,and unto all Judahיְהוּדָ֛הye.hu.DahH3063that wereat Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

10Thus saithאָמַ֔ר'a.MarH559Sennacheribסַנְחֵרִ֖יבsan.che.RivH5576kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804,Whereon do ye trustבֹּטְחִ֔יםbo.te.ChimH982,that ye abideוְיֹשְׁבִ֥יםve.yo.she.VimH3427in the siegeבְּמָצ֖וֹרbe.ma.TzorH4692in Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃bi.ru.sha.LimH3389?

11Doth not HezekiahH3169persuadeמַסִּ֣יתma.SitH5496you to giveלָתֵ֣תla.TetH5414over yourselves to dieלָמ֛וּתla.MutH4191by famineבְּרָעָ֥בbe.ra.'AvH7458and by thirstוּבְצָמָ֖אu.ve.tza.Ma'H6772,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,The Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430shall deliverיַצִּילֵ֕נוּya.tzi.Le.nuH5337us out of the handמִכַּ֖ףmi.KafH3709of the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּֽׁוּר׃'a.ShurH804?

12Hath not the same HezekiahH3169taken awayהֵסִ֥ירhe.SirH5493his high placesבָּמֹתָ֖יוba.mo.TavH1116and his altarsמִזְבְּחֹתָ֑יוmiz.be.cho.TavH4196,and commandedוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Judahלִֽיהוּדָ֤הli.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemוְלִֽירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ve.li.ru.sha.LimH3389,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,Ye shall worshipתִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּtish.ta.cha.VuH7812beforeלִפְנֵ֨יlif.NeiH6440oneאֶחָ֛ד'e.ChadH259altarמִזְבֵּ֧חַmiz.Be.achH4196,and burn incenseתַּקְטִֽירוּ׃tak.Ti.ruH6999upon it?

13Knowתֵדְע֗וּte.de.'UH3045ye not what I and my fathersוַאֲבוֹתַ֔יva.'a.vo.TaiH1have doneעָשִׂ֙יתִי֙'a.Si.tiH6213unto all the peopleעַמֵּ֣י'a.MeiH5971of otherlandsהָאֲרָצ֑וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776?were the godsאֱלֹהֵי֙'e.lo.HeiH430of the nationsגּוֹיֵ֣go.YeH1471of those landsהָאֲרָצ֔וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776any waysהֲיָכ֣וֹלha.ya.KholH3201ableיָֽכְל֗וּya.khe.LuH3201to deliverלְהַצִּ֥ילle.ha.TzilH5337their landsאַרְצָ֖ם'ar.TzamH776out of mine handמִיָּדִֽי׃mi.ya.DiH3027?

15Now therefore let notH3808Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּ֜הוּchiz.ki.Ya.huH2396deceiveיַשִּׁיא֩ya.Shi'H5377you, nor persuadeיַסִּ֨יתya.SitH5496you on this manner, neither yet believeתַּאֲמִ֣ינוּta.'a.Mi.nuH539him: for no godאֱל֙וֹהַ֙'e.Lo.haH433of any nationגּ֣וֹיGoyH1471or kingdomוּמַמְלָכָ֔הu.mam.la.KhahH4467was ableיוּכַ֗לyu.KhalH3201to deliverלְהַצִּ֥ילle.ha.TzilH5337his peopleעַמּ֛וֹa.MoH5971out of mine handמִיָּדִ֖יmi.ya.DiH3027,and out of the handוּמִיַּ֣דu.mi.YadH3027of my fathersאֲבוֹתָ֑י'a.vo.TaiH1:how much less shall your Godאֱֽלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם'elo.hei.KhemH430deliverיַצִּ֥ילוּya.Tzi.luH5337you out of mine handמִיָּדִֽי׃mi.ya.DiH3027?

16And his servantsעֲבָדָ֔יו'a.va.DavH5650spakeדִּבְּר֣וּdi.be.RuH1696yet moreagainst the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and against his servantעַבְדּֽוֹ׃av.DoH5650HezekiahH3169.

17He wroteכָּתַ֔בka.TavH3789also lettersוּסְפָרִ֣יםu.se.fa.RimH5612to railלְחָרֵ֕ףle.cha.RefH2778on the Lordלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and to speakוְלֵֽאמֹ֨רve.le.MorH559against him, sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,As the godsכֵּֽאלֹהֵ֞יke.lo.HeiH430of the nationsגּוֹיֵ֤go.YeH1471of otherlandsהָאֲרָצוֹת֙ha.'a.ra.tzOtH776have not deliveredהִצִּ֤ילוּhi.Tzi.luH5337their peopleעַמָּם֙'a.MamH5971out of mine handמִיָּדִ֔יmi.ya.DiH3027,so shall not the Godאֱלֹהֵ֧י'e.lo.HeiH430of HezekiahH3169deliverיַצִּ֞ילya.TzilH5337his peopleעַמּ֖וֹa.MoH5971out of mine handמִיָּדִֽי׃mi.ya.DiH3027.

18Then they criedוַיִּקְרְא֨וּvai.yik.re.'UH7121with a loudגָּד֜וֹלga.DolH1419voiceבְקוֹל־ve.kol-H6963in the Jews’ speechיְהוּדִ֗יתye.hu.DitH3066unto the peopleעַ֤ם'amH5971of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ye.ru.sha.LimH3389that wereon the wallהַֽחוֹמָ֔הha.cho.MahH2346,to affrightלְיָֽרְאָ֖םle.ya.re.'AmH3372them, and to troubleוּֽלְבַהֲלָ֑םu.le.va.ha.LamH926them; that they might takeיִלְכְּד֥וּyil.ke.DuH3920the cityהָעִֽיר׃ha.'IrH5892.

19And they spakeוַֽיְדַבְּר֔וּvay.da.be.RuH1696againstכְּעַ֗לke.'AlH5921the Godאֱלֹהֵ֖י'e.lo.HeiH430of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,as against the godsאֱלֹהֵי֙'e.lo.HeiH430of the peopleעַמֵּ֣י'a.MeiH5971of the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776, which werethe workמַעֲשֵׂ֖הma.'a.SehH4639of the handsיְדֵ֥יye.DeiH3027of manהָאָדָֽם׃ סha.'a.DamH120.

20And for this causeHezekiahH3169the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,and the prophetהַנָּבִ֖יאha.na.Vi'H5030Isaiahוִֽישַֽׁעְיָ֧הוּvi.sha'.Ya.huH3470the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Amozאָמ֛וֹץ'a.MotzH531,prayedוַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֞לvai.yit.pa.LelH6419and criedוַֽיִּזְעֲק֖וּvai.yiz.'a.KuH2199to heavenהַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ פha.sha.Ma.yimH8064.

21And the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971an angelמַלְאָ֔ךְmal.'AkhH4397,which cut offוַיַּכְחֵ֞דvai.yakh.ChedH3582all the mighty menגִּבּ֥וֹרgi.BorH1368of valourחַ֙יִל֙cha.yilH2428,and the leadersוְנָגִ֣ידve.na.GidH5057and captainsוְשָׂ֔רve.SarH8269in the campבְּמַחֲנֵ֖הbe.ma.cha.NehH4264of the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804.So he returnedוַיָּשָׁב֩vai.ya.ShavH7725with shameבְּבֹ֨שֶׁתbe.Vo.shetH1322of faceפָּנִ֜יםpa.NimH6440to his own landלְאַרְצ֗וֹle.'ar.TzoH776.And when he was comeוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935into the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of his godאֱלֹהָ֔יו'e.lo.HavH430,they that came forthוּמִֽיצִיאֵ֣יu.mi.tzi.'ovH3329of his own bowelsמֵעָ֔יוme.'AvH4578slewהִפִּילֻ֥הוּhi.pi.Lu.huH5307him there with the swordבֶחָֽרֶב׃ve.Cha.revH2719.

22Thus the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068savedוַיּוֹשַׁע֩vai.yo.Sha'H3467HezekiahH3169and the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֣יyo.she.VeiH3427of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389from the handמִיַּ֛דmi.YadH3027of Sennacheribסַנְחֵרִ֥יבsan.che.RivH5576the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֖וּר'a.ShurH804,and from the handוּמִיַּד־u.mi.yad-H3027of all other,and guidedוַֽיְנַהֲלֵ֖םvay.na.ha.LemH5095them on every sideמִסָּבִֽיב׃mi.sa.VivH5439.

23And manyוְ֠רַבִּיםVe.ra.bimH7227broughtמְבִיאִ֨יםme.vi.'ImH935giftsמִנְחָ֤הmin.ChahH4503unto the Lordלַיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068to Jerusalemלִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םli.Ru.sha.LimH3389,and presentsוּמִ֨גְדָּנ֔וֹתu.Mig.da.NotH4030to HezekiahH3169kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063:so that he was magnifiedוַיִּנַּשֵּׂ֛אvai.yin.na.Se'H5375in the sightלְעֵינֵ֥יle.'ei.NeiH5869of all nationsהַגּוֹיִ֖םha.go.YimH1471from thenceforthמֵאַֽחֲרֵי־me.'a.cha.rei-H310.
