1TheseH428 are the familyH1 headsH7218 and genealogical recordsH3187 of those who returnedH5927 with meH5973 from BabylonH894 during the reignH4438 of KingH4428 ArtaxerxesH783:

Ezra Sends for the Levites
15Now I assembledH6908 these exiles atH413 the canalH5104 that flowsH935 toH413 AhavaH163, and we campedH2583 thereH8033 threeH7969 daysH3117. And when I searchedH995 among the peopleH5971 and priestsH3548, I foundH4672 noH3808 LevitesH1121H3881 thereH8033.
16Then I summonedH7971 the leadersH7218: EliezerH461, ArielH740, ShemaiahH8098, ElnathanH494,5 JaribH3402, ElnathanH494, NathanH5416, ZechariahH2148, and MeshullamH4918, as well as the teachersH995 JoiaribH3114 and ElnathanH494. 17And I sentH3318 themH853 toH5921 IddoH112, the leaderH7218 at CasiphiaH3703H4725H7760H6310, with a messageH1697H1696 forH413 himH112 and his kinsmenH251, the temple servantsH54146 at CasiphiaH3703H4725, that they should bringH935 to us ministersH8334 for the houseH1004 of our GodH430.
18And since the graciousH2896 handH3027 of our GodH430 was upon usH5921, they broughtH935 us SherebiahH8274—a manH376 of insightH7922 from the descendantsH1121 of MahliH4249 sonH1121 of LeviH3881, the sonH1121 of IsraelH3478—along with his sonsH1121 and brothersH251, 18H8083 menH6240; 19alsoH853 HashabiahH2811, together withH854 JeshaiahH3470, from the descendantsH1121 of MerariH4847, and his brothersH251 and their sonsH1121, 20 menH6242. 20They also brought 220H3967H6242 ofH4480 the temple servantsH5411, allH3605 designatedH5344 by nameH8034. DavidH1732 and the officialsH8269 had appointedH5414 them to assistH5656 the LevitesH3881.
Fasting for Protection
21And there byH5921 the AhavaH163 CanalH5104 I proclaimedH7121H8033 a fastH6685, so that we might humbleH6031 ourselves beforeH6440 our GodH430 and ask Him forH1245H4480 a safeH3477 journeyH1870 for us and our childrenH2945, with allH3605 our possessionsH7399. 22ForH3588 I was ashamedH954 to ask the kingH4428 forH7592 an escort of soldiersH2428 and horsemenH6571 to protect usH5826 fromH4480 our enemiesH341 on the roadH1870, sinceH3588 we had told himH559H4428, “The handH3027 of our GodH430 is graciousH2896 toH5921 allH3605 who seek HimH1245, but His greatH5797 angerH639 is againstH5921 allH3605 who forsake HimH5800.”
23So we fastedH6684 and petitionedH1245 our GodH430 aboutH5921 thisH2063, and He granted our requestH6279.
Priests to Guard the Offerings
24Then I set apartH914 twelveH8147H6240 of the leadingH8269 priestsH3548, together with SherebiahH8274, HashabiahH2811, andH5973 tenH6235 of their brothersH251, 25and I weighed outH8254 to them the contributionH8641 of silverH3701 andH853 goldH2091 andH853 the articlesH3627 that the kingH4428, his counselorsH3289, his leadersH8269, and allH3605 the IsraelitesH3478 thereH4672 had offeredH7311 for the houseH1004 of our GodH430.
26I weighed outH8254 intoH5921 their handsH3027 650H8337H3967H2572 talentsH3603 of silverH3701,7 articlesH3627 of silverH3701 weighing 100H3967 talentsH3603,8 100H3967 talentsH3603 of goldH2091,9 2720H6242 goldH2091 bowlsH3713 valued at 1,000H505 daricsH150,10 and twoH8147 articlesH3627 of fineH2896 polishedH6668 bronzeH5178, as precious asH2530 goldH2091.
28Then I toldH559 themH413, “YouH859 are holyH6944 to the LORDH3068, and these articlesH3627 are holyH6944. The silverH3701 and goldH2091 are a freewill offeringH5071 to the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of your fathersH1. 29Guard themH8245 carefullyH8104 untilH5704 you weigh them outH8254 in the chambersH3957 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 in JerusalemH3389 beforeH6440 the leadingH8269 priestsH3548, LevitesH3881, and headsH8269 of the IsraeliteH3478 familiesH1.”
30So the priestsH3548 and LevitesH3881 took charge ofH6901 the silverH3701 and goldH2091 and sacred articlesH3627 that had been weighed outH4948 to be takenH935 to the houseH1004 of our GodH430 in JerusalemH3389.
31On the twelfthH8147H6240 day of the firstH7223 monthH2320 we set outH5265 from the AhavaH163 CanalH5104 to goH1980 to JerusalemH3389, and the handH3027 of our GodH430 wasH1961 upon usH5921 to protect usH5337 from the handsH3709 of the enemiesH341 and banditsH693 alongH5921 the wayH1870.
Arrival in Jerusalem
32So we arrivedH935 at JerusalemH3389 and restedH3427 thereH8033 for threeH7969 daysH3117.
33On the fourthH7243 dayH3117, in the houseH1004 of our GodH430, we weighed outH8254 the silverH3701 and goldH2091 and sacred articlesH3627 intoH5921 the handH3027 of MeremothH4822 sonH1121 of UriahH223, the priestH3548. EleazarH499 sonH1121 of PhinehasH6372 was with himH5973, along withH5973 the LevitesH3881 JozabadH3107 sonH1121 of JeshuaH3442 and NoadiahH5129 sonH1121 of BinnuiH1131. 34EverythingH3605 was verified by numberH4557 and weightH4948, and the totalH3605 weightH4948 was recordedH3789 at thatH1931 timeH6256.
35Then the exilesH1121H1473 who had returnedH935 from captivityH7628 sacrificedH7126 burnt offeringsH5930 to the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: 12H8147H6240 bullsH6499 forH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478, 96H8673H8337 ramsH352, 77H7657H7651 lambsH3532, and a sin offeringH2403 of 12H8147H6240 male goatsH6842. AllH3605 this was a burnt offeringH5930 to the LORDH3068.
36They also deliveredH5414 the king’sH4428 edictsH1881 to the royalH4428 satrapsH32311 and governorsH6346 of the region westH5676 of the EuphratesH5104,12 who proceeded to assistH5375 the peopleH5971 and the houseH1004 of GodH430.
