The Basket of Summer Fruit

1This is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069 showed meH7200: I sawH2009 a basketH3619 of summer fruitH7019.1

2“AmosH5986, whatH4100 do youH859 seeH7200?” He askedH559.

“A basketH3619 of summer fruitH7019,” I repliedH559.

So the LORDH3068 saidH559 to meH413, “The endH7093 has comeH935 forH413 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; I will noH3808 longerH3254H5750 spareH5674 them.”

3“In thatH1931 dayH3117,” declaresH5002 the LordH136 GODH3069, “the songsH78922 of the templeH19643 will turn to wailingH3213. ManyH7227 will be the corpsesH6297, strewnH7993 in silenceH2013 everywhereH3605H4725!”

4HearH8085 thisH2063, you who trampleH7602 the needyH34,who do away withH7673 the poorH6035 of the landH776,5askingH559, “WhenH4970 will the New MoonH2320 be overH5674,that we may sellH7666 grainH7668?When will the SabbathH7676 end,that we may marketH6605 wheatH1250?Let us reduceH6994 the ephahH374 and increaseH1431 the shekelH8255;4let us cheatH5791 with dishonestH4820 scalesH3976.6Let us buyH7069 the poorH1800 with silverH3701and the needyH34 forH5668 a pair of sandalsH5275,sellingH7666 even the chaffH4651 with the wheatH1250!”

7The LORDH3068 has swornH7650 by the PrideH1347 of JacobH3290:

“I will neverH518H5331 forgetH7911 anyH3605 of their deedsH4639.
8Will notH3808 the landH776 quakeH7264 forH5921 thisH2063,and allH3605 its dwellersH3427 mournH56?All of itH3605 will swellH5927 like the NileH2975;it will surgeH1644 and then subsideH8248like the NileH2975 in EgyptH4714.
9And in thatH1931 dayH3117,declaresH5002 the LordH136 GODH3069,I will make the sunH8121 go downH935 at noonH6672,and I will darkenH2821 the earthH776 in the daytimeH3117H216.10I will turnH2015 your feastsH2282 into mourningH60and allH3605 your songsH7892 into lamentationH7015.I will cause everyoneH3605 to wearH5927H5921H4975 sackclothH8242H5921and everyH3605 headH7218 to be shavedH7144.I will make it likeH7760 a time of mourningH60 for an only sonH3173,and its outcomeH319 like a bitterH4751 dayH3117.
11BeholdH2009, the daysH3117 are comingH935,declaresH5002 the LordH136 GODH3069,when I will sendH7971 a famineH7458 on the landH776—notH3808 a famineH7458 of breadH3899H3808 or a thirstH6772 for waterH4325,butH3588H518 a famine of hearingH8085 the wordsH1697 of the LORDH3068.12People will staggerH5128 from seaH3220 toH5704 seaH3220and roamH7751 from northH6828 toH5704 eastH4217,seekingH1245 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068,but they will notH3808 find itH4672.13In thatH1931 dayH3117 the lovelyH3303 young womenH1330—the young men as wellH970—will faintH5968 from thirstH6772.14Those who swearH7650 by the guiltH819 of SamariaH8111and sayH559, ‘As surely as your godH430 livesH2416, O DanH1835,’or, ‘As surely as the wayH18705 of BeershebaH884 livesH2416’—they will fallH5307, neverH3808 to riseH6965 againH5750.”
