Judges 19:1-14
And it cameH1961 to passH1961 in theseH1992 daysH3117, when there was noH369 kingH4428 in IsraelH3478, that there was a certainH376 LeviteH3881 sojourning on the farther sideH1992 of the hillH2022 countryH2022 of EphraimH669, who tookH3947 to him a concubineH6370 outH376 of Beth-lehem-judah.
And his concubineH6370 playedH2181 the harlotH2181 againstH5921 him, and wentH413 away from him unto herH413 father’sH1 houseH1004 to Beth-lehem-judah, and was there the space of fourH702 monthsH2320.
And herH5921 husbandH376 aroseH6965, and wentH935 afterH310 herH5921, to speakH1696 kindlyH3820 unto herH5921, to bringH935 herH5921 againH7725, having his servantH5288 with him, and a coupleH6776 of asses: and sheH3820 broughtH935 him intoH935 herH5921 father’sH1 houseH1004: and when the fatherH1 of the damsel sawH7200 him, he rejoicedH8055 to meetH7125 him.
And his fatherH1 in law, the damsel’s fatherH1, retainedH2388 him; and he abodeH3427 with him threeH7969 daysH3117: soH3427 they didH3117 eatH398 and drinkH8354, and lodged there.
And it cameH1961 to passH1961 on the fourthH7243 dayH3117, that they aroseH6965 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and he roseH6965 upH6965 to depart: and the damsel’s fatherH1 saidH559 unto his son in law, Comfort thine heartH3820 with a morselH6595 of breadH3899, and afterwardH310 ye shall goH6965 your way.
SoH3427 they satH3427 downH3427, and didH376 eatH398 and drinkH8354, bothH8147 of them togetherH3162: and the damsel’s fatherH1 saidH559 unto the manH376, Be content, I prayH4994 thee, and tarry allH3162 night, and letH4994 thine heartH3820 be merryH3190.
And the manH376 roseH6965 upH6965 to depart; but his father in law urgedH6484 him, and he lodged there againH7725.
And he aroseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 on the fifthH2549 dayH3117 to depart; and the damsel’s fatherH1 saidH559, Comfort thine heartH3824, I prayH4994 thee, and tarry ye untilH5704 the dayH3117 declineth; and they didH3117 eatH398, bothH8147 of them.
And when the manH376 roseH6965 upH6965 to departH1980, he, and his concubineH6370, and his servantH5288, his fatherH1 in law, the damsel’s fatherH1, saidH559 unto him, BeholdH2009, nowH4994 the dayH3117 draweth towardH1870 eveningH6150, I prayH4994 youH3117 tarry allH3117 night: beholdH2009, the dayH3117 groweth to an endH2583, lodge hereH6311, that thine heartH3824 may be merryH3190; and tomorrowH4279 getH6965 youH3117 earlyH7925 on your wayH1870, that thou mayest goH1980 homeH168.
But the manH376 would notH3808 tarry that night, but he roseH6965 upH6965 and departedH935, and cameH935 over againstH5973 JebusH2982 (the sameH1931 is JerusalemH3389): and there were with him a coupleH6776 of asses saddledH2280; his concubineH6370 also was with him.
When they were by JebusH2982, the dayH3117 was farH413 spentH3885; and the servantH5288 saidH559 unto his masterH113, ComeH4994, I prayH4994 thee, and letH4994 usH4994 turnH5493 asideH5493 intoH413 this cityH5892 of the JebusitesH2983, and lodge in it.
And his masterH113 saidH559 unto him, WeH834 will notH3808 turnH5493 asideH5493 intoH413 the cityH5892 of a strangerH5237, that is notH3808 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478; but weH834 will passH5674 over to GibeahH1390.
And he saidH559 unto his servantH5288, ComeH7126 and let usH559 drawH7126 nearH7126 to one of these placesH4725; and we will lodge in GibeahH1390, or in RamahH7414.
SoH834 they passedH5674 on and wentH935 their way; and the sunH8121 wentH935 down uponH935 them nearH681 to GibeahH1390, whichH834 belongeth to BenjaminH1144.
