Revised Version 1895
Kings 20:32-42
SoH935 they girdedH2296 sackclothH8242 on their loinsH4975, and putH935 ropesH2256 on their headsH7218, and cameH935 to the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, and saidH559, Thy servantH5650 Ben-hadadH1130 saith, I prayH4994 thee, letH4994 meH413 liveH2421. And he saidH559, Is he yet aliveH2416? he is my brotherH251.
NowH935 the menH376 observed diligently, and hasted to catch whetherH4480 it were his mind; and they saidH559, Thy brotherH251 Ben-hadadH1130. Then he saidH559, GoH3318 ye, bringH935 him. Then Ben-hadadH1130 cameH935 forthH3318 to him; and he caused him to comeH935 upH5927 intoH413 the chariotH4818.
And Ben-hadad saidH559 unto him, The citiesH5892 whichH834 my fatherH1 tookH3947 from thy fatherH1 I will restoreH7725; and thou shalt makeH7760 streetsH2351 for thee in DamascusH1834, as my fatherH1 madeH3772 in SamariaH8111. And I, saidH559 AhabH559, will letH7971 thee goH7971 with this covenantH1285. SoH3947 he madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with him, and letH7971 him goH7971.
And a certainH259 manH376 of the sonsH1121 of the prophetsH5030 saidH559 unto his fellowH376 by the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, SmiteH5221 meH413, I prayH4994 thee. And the manH376 refusedH3985 to smiteH5221 him.
Then saidH559 he unto him, BecauseH3282 thou hast notH3808 obeyedH8085 the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068, beholdH2005, as soon as thou art departedH1980 from meH6963, a lionH738 shall slayH5221 thee. And as soon as he was departedH1980 from him, a lionH738 foundH4672 him, and slewH5221 him.
Then he foundH4672 anotherH312 manH376, and saidH559, SmiteH5221 meH4994, I prayH4994 thee. And the manH376 smoteH5221 him, smitingH5221 and wounding him.
SoH5975 the prophetH5030 departed, and waitedH5975 for the kingH4428 by the wayH1870, and disguisedH2664 himself with his headband over his eyesH5869.
And as the kingH4428 passedH5674 by, he criedH6817 unto the kingH4428: and he saidH559, Thy servantH5650 wentH3318 outH3318 intoH413 the midstH7130 of the battleH4421; and, beholdH2009, a manH376 turnedH5493 asideH5493, and broughtH935 a manH376 unto meH413, and saidH559, KeepH8104 this manH376: ifH518 by anyH376 meansH518 he be missingH6485, then shall thy lifeH5315 be for his lifeH5315, or elseH176 thou shalt payH8254 a talentH3603 of silverH3701.
And as thy servantH5650 was busy hereH2008 and there, he was goneH369. And the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 saidH559 unto him, SoH3651 shall thy judgmentH4941 be; thyself hast decidedH559 it.
And he hasted, and tookH5493 the headband awayH5493 from his eyesH5869; and the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 discerned him that he was of the prophetsH5030.
And he saidH559 unto him, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, BecauseH3282 thou hast letH7971 goH7971 outH7971 of thy handH3027 the manH376 whom I had devotedH2764 to destruction, therefore thy lifeH5315 shall goH7971 for his lifeH5315, and thy peopleH5971 for his peopleH5971.
