Revised Version 1895

Kings 16:8-20

In the twentyH6242 and sixth yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began ElahH425 the sonH1121 of BaashaH1201 to reignH4427 over IsraelH3478 in TirzahH8656, and reignedH4427 two yearsH8141.

And his servantH5650 ZimriH2174, captainH8269 of halfH4276 his chariotsH7393, conspiredH7194 againstH5921 him: now he was in TirzahH8656, drinkingH8354 himselfH1931 drunkH8354 in the houseH1004 of ArzaH777, whichH834 was over the householdH1004 in TirzahH8656:

and ZimriH2174 wentH935 in and smoteH5221 him, and killedH5221 him, in the twentyH6242 and seventhH7651 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and reignedH4427 in his steadH8478.

And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when he beganH1961 to reignH4427, as soon as he satH3427 on his throneH3678, that he smoteH5221 allH3605 the houseH1004 of BaashaH1201: he leftH7604 him notH3808 a single manH3605 child, neitherH3808 of his kinsfolks, norH3808 of his friendsH7453.

Thus didH834 ZimriH2174 destroyH8045 allH3605 the houseH1004 of BaashaH1201, accordingH413 to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, whichH834 he spake againstH413 BaashaH1201 by JehuH3058 the prophetH5030,

for allH3605 the sinsH2398 of BaashaH1201, and the sinsH2398 of ElahH425 his sonH1121, whichH834 they sinnedH2398, and wherewith they madeH3605 IsraelH3478 to sinH2398, to provokeH3707 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, to angerH3707 with their vanitiesH1892.

NowH3117 the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of ElahH425, and allH3605 that he didH6213, are they notH3808 writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478?

In the twentyH6242 and seventhH7651 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 didH834 ZimriH2174 reignH4427 sevenH7651 daysH3117 in TirzahH8656. NowH3117 the peopleH5971 were encampedH2583 againstH5921 GibbethonH1405, whichH834 belonged to the PhilistinesH6430.

And the peopleH5971 that were encampedH2583 heardH8085 sayH559, ZimriH2174 hath conspiredH7194, and hath also smittenH5221 the kingH4428: wherefore allH3605 IsraelH3478 madeH7194 OmriH6018, the captainH8269 of the hostH6635, kingH4428 over IsraelH3478 that dayH3117 in the campH4264.

And OmriH6018 wentH5927 upH5927 from GibbethonH1405, and allH3605 IsraelH3478 with him, and they besieged TirzahH8656.

And it cameH935 to passH935, when ZimriH2174 sawH7200 that the cityH5892 was takenH3920, that he wentH935 intoH413 the castleH759 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004, and burntH8313 the king’sH4428 houseH1004 over him with fireH784, and diedH4191,

for his sinsH2398 whichH834 he sinnedH2398 in doingH6213 that whichH834 was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, in walking in the wayH1870 of JeroboamH3379, and in his sinH2398 whichH834 he didH6213, to makeH6213 IsraelH3478 to sinH2398.

NowH3117 the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of ZimriH2174, and his treasonH7195 that he wrought, are they notH3808 writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478?
