Proverbs 4:1-9
1Hear, O sons, the 1instruction of a father, And 2give attention that you may 3gain understanding,2For I give you 4sound 5teaching; 6Do not abandon my 7instruction.3When I was a son to my father, 8Tender and 9the only son in the sight of my mother,4Then he 10taught me and said to me, “Let your heart 11hold fast my words; 12Keep my commandments and live;513Acquire wisdom! 14Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.6Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; 15Love her, and she will watch over you.716The 17beginning of wisdom is: 18Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding.819Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her.9She will place 20on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty.”
