Nahum 1:2-14

2A 1jealous and avenging God is the Lord; The Lord is 2avenging and 3wrathful. The Lord takes 4vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies.3The Lord is 5slow to anger and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In 6whirlwind and storm is His way, And 7clouds are the dust beneath His feet.4He 8rebukes the sea and makes it dry; He dries up all the rivers. 9Bashan and Carmel wither; The blossoms of Lebanon wither.5Mountains 10quake because of Him And the hills 11dissolve; Indeed the earth is 12upheaved by His presence, The 13world and all the inhabitants in it.614Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the 15burning of His anger? His 16wrath is poured out like fire And the 17rocks are broken up by Him.7The Lord is 18good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And 19He knows those who take refuge in Him.8But with an 20overflowing flood He will make a complete end of 21its site, And will pursue His enemies into 22darkness.

9Whatever you 23devise against the Lord, He will make a 24complete end of it. Distress will not rise up twice.10Like tangled 25thorns, And like those who are 26drunken with their drink, They are 27consumed As stubble completely withered.11From you has gone forth One who 28plotted evil against the Lord, A 2930wicked counselor. 12Thus says the Lord, “Though they are at full strength and likewise many, Even so, they will be 31cut off and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you 32no longer.13So now, I will 33break his yoke bar from upon you, And I will tear off your shackles.”

14The Lord has issued a command concerning 34you: “35Your name will 36no longer be perpetuated. I will cut off 3738idol and 39image From the house of your gods. I will prepare your 40grave, For you are contemptible.”
