Matthew 23:16-22

16“Woe to you, 1blind guides, who say, ‘2Whoever swears by the 3temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the 4temple is obligated.’ 17You fools and blind men! 5Which is 6more important, the gold or the 7temple that sanctified the gold? 18And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, that is nothing, but whoever swears by the 8offering on it, he is obligated.’ 19You blind men, 9which is 10more important, the 11offering, or the altar that sanctifies the 12offering? 20Therefore, 13whoever swears by the altar, swears both by 14the altar and by everything on it. 21And 15whoever swears by the 16temple, swears both by 17the temple and by Him who 18dwells within it. 22And 19whoever swears by heaven, 20swears both by the throne of God and by Him who sits upon it.
