John 5:30-47

30“1I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and 2My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but 3the will of Him who sent Me.

31“4If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not 5true. 32There is 6another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. 33You have sent to John, and he 7has testified to the truth. 34But 8the testimony which I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35He was 9the lamp that was burning and was shining and you 10were willing to rejoice for 11a while in his light. 36But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for 12the works which the Father has given Me 13to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father 14has sent Me. 37And the Father who sent Me, 15He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. 38You do not have 16His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He 17sent. 391819You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is 20these that testify about Me; 40and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 4121I do not receive glory from men; 42but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; 22if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44How can you believe, when you 23receive 24glory from one another and you do not seek 25the 26glory that is from 27the one and only God? 45Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is 28Moses, in whom you have set your hope. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for 29he wrote about Me. 47But 30if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
