John 13:13-38

13You call Me 1Teacher and 2Lord; and 3you are right, for so I am. 14If I then, 4the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15For I gave you 5an example that you also should do as I did to you. 16Truly, truly, I say to you, 6a slave is not greater than his master, nor is 7one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17If you know these things, you are 8blessed if you do them. 189I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have 10chosen; but it is 11that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘12He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19From now on 13I am telling you before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that 14I am He. 20Truly, truly, I say to you, 15he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

21When Jesus had said this, He 16became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, that 17one of you will 18betray Me.” 22The disciples began looking at one another, 19at a loss to know of which one He was speaking. 23There was reclining on 20Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, 21whom Jesus loved. 24So Simon Peter gestured to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking.” 25He, 22leaning back thus on Jesus’ bosom, said to Him, “Lord, who is it?” 26Jesus then answered, “That is the one for whom I shall dip the morsel and give it to him.” So when He had dipped the morsel, He took and gave it to Judas, 23the son of Simon Iscariot. 27After the morsel, 24Satan then 25entered into him. Therefore Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.” 28Now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him. 29For some were supposing, because Judas 26had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy the things we have need of 27for the feast”; or else, that he should 28give something to the poor. 30So after receiving the morsel he went out immediately; and 29it was night.

31Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now 30is 31the Son of Man 32glorified, and 33God 34is glorified in Him; 3235if God is glorified in Him, 36God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. 3337Little children, I am with you 38a little while longer. 39You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34A 40new commandment I give to you, 41that you love one another, 42even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 3543By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

36Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “44Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but 45you will follow later.” 37Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You right now? 46I will lay down my life for You.” 38Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, 47a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.
