James 5:7-20
7Therefore be patient, 1brethren, 2until the coming of the Lord. 3The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until 4it gets 5the early and late rains. 86You too be patient; 7strengthen your hearts, for 8the coming of the Lord is 9near. 910Do not 11complain, 12brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, 13the Judge is standing 1415right at the 16door. 10As an example, 17brethren, of suffering and patience, take 18the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11We count those 19blessed who endured. You have heard of 20the 21endurance of Job and have seen 22the 23outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that 24the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.
12But above all, 25my brethren, 26do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but 27your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.
13Is anyone among you 28suffering? 29Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to 30sing praises. 14Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for 31the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, 3233anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15and the 34prayer 35offered in faith will 3637restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will 38raise him up, and if he has committed sins, 39they will be forgiven him. 16Therefore, 40confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be 41healed. 42The effective 43prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17Elijah was 44a man with a nature like ours, and 45he prayed 46earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for 47three years and six months. 18Then he 48prayed again, and 49the 50sky 51poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.
19My brethren, 52if any among you strays from 53the truth and one turns him back, 20let him know that 54he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will 55save his soul from death and will 56cover a multitude of sins.
