2 Peter 1:3-21
3seeing that His 1divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true 2knowledge of Him who 3called us 4by His own glory and 5excellence. 46For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent 7promises, so that by them you may become 8partakers of the divine nature, having 9escaped the 10corruption that is in 11the world by lust. 5Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith 12supply 13moral 14excellence, and in your moral excellence, 15knowledge, 6and in your knowledge, 16self-control, and in your self-control, 17perseverance, and in your perseverance, 18godliness, 7and in your godliness, 19brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor 20unfruitful in the true 21knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9For he who lacks these qualities is 22blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his 23purification from his former sins. 10Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His 24calling and 25choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never 26stumble; 11for in this way the entrance into 27the eternal kingdom of our 28Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be 29abundantly 30supplied to you.
12Therefore, 31I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in 32the truth which is present with you. 13I consider it 33right, as long as I am in 34this earthly dwelling, to 35stir you up by way of reminder, 14knowing that 36the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, 37as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15And I will also be diligent that at any time after my 38departure you will be able to call these things to mind.
16For we did not follow cleverly devised 39tales when we made known to you the 40power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were 41eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an 4243utterance as this was 44made to Him by the 45Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased”-- 18and we ourselves heard this 46utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the 47holy mountain.
1948So we have 49the prophetic word made more 50sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to 51a lamp shining in a dark place, until the 52day dawns and the 53morning star arises 54in your hearts. 20But 55know this first of all, that 56no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 21for 57no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men 58moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
