1 Thessalonians 2:13-20

13For this reason we also constantly 1thank God that when you received the 2word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it 3not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, 4which also performs its work in you who believe. 14For you, brethren, became 5imitators of 6the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are 7in Judea, for 8you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, 9even as they did from the Jews, 1510who both killed the Lord Jesus and 11the prophets, and 12drove us out. 13They are not pleasing to God, 14but hostile to all men, 1615hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles 16so that they may be saved; with the result that they always 17fill up the measure of their sins. But 18wrath has come upon them 19to the utmost.

17But we, brethren, having been taken away from you for a 20short while--21in 22person, not in 23spirit--were all the more eager with great desire 24to see your face. 1825For 26we wanted to come to you--I, Paul, 2728more than once--and yet 29Satan 30hindered us. 19For who is our hope or 31joy or crown of exultation? Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His 3233coming? 20For you are 34our glory and joy.
