1 Peter 2:3-12
3if you have 1tasted 23the kindness of the Lord.
4And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been 4rejected by men, but is 5choice and precious in the sight of God, 56you also, as living stones, 7are being built up as a 8spiritual house for a holy 9priesthood, to 10offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6For this is contained in 11Scripture: “12Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a 13precious corner stone, And he who believes in 14Him will not be 15disappointed.” 716This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, “17The stone which the builders 18rejected, This became the very corner stone,” 8and, “19A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; 20for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, 21and to this doom they were also appointed.
9But you are 22a chosen race, a royal 23priesthood, a 24holy nation, 25a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you 26out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1027for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
1128Beloved, 29I urge you as 30aliens and strangers to abstain from 31fleshly lusts which wage 32war against the soul. 1233Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they 34slander you as evildoers, they may 35because of your good deeds, as they observe them, 36glorify God 37in the day of 38visitation.
