1 John 5:4-21

4For whatever is 12born of God 3overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

5Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who 4believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6This is the One who came 5by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not 6with the water only, but 7with the water and 8with the blood. It is 9the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are 10three that testify: 811the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are 12in agreement. 913If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that 14He has testified concerning His Son. 10The one who believes in the Son of God 15has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has 16made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11And the testimony is this, that God has given us 17eternal life, and 18this life is in His Son. 1219He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

1320These things I have written to you who 21believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have 22eternal life. 14This is 23the confidence which we have 24before Him, that, 25if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, 26we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

16If anyone sees his brother 27committing a sin not leading to death, 28he shall ask and 29God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. 30There is a sin leading to death; 31I do not say that he should make request for this. 1732All unrighteousness is sin, and 33there is a sin not leading to death.

1834We know that 35no one who is 36born of God sins; but He who was 37born of God 38keeps him, and 39the evil one does not 40touch him. 1941We know that 42we are of God, and that 43the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20And 44we know that 45the Son of God has come, and has 46given us understanding so that we may know 47Him who is true; and we 48are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. 49This is the true God and 50eternal life.
