1 John 2:14-29

14I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him 1who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are 2strong, and the 3word of God abides in you, and 4you have overcome the evil one.

15Do not love 5the world nor the things in the world. 6If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, 7the lust of the flesh and 8the lust of the eyes and 9the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 1710The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who 11does the will of God lives forever.

18Children, 12it is the last hour; and just as you heard that 13antichrist is coming, 14even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. 1915They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, 16so that 17it would be shown that they all are not of us. 2018But you have an 19anointing from 20the Holy One, and 21you all know. 21I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but 22because you do know it, and 23because no lie is 24of the truth. 22Who is the liar but 25the one who denies that Jesus is the 26Christ? This is 27the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 2328Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24As for you, let that abide in you which you heard 29from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also 30will abide in the Son and in the Father. 2531This is the promise which He Himself 32made to us: eternal life.

26These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to 33deceive you. 27As for you, the 34anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing 35teaches you about all things, and is 36true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, 37you abide in Him.

28Now, 38little children, abide in Him, so that when He 39appears, we may have 40confidence and 41not 42shrink away from Him in shame 43at His 44coming. 29If you know that 45He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness 46is 47born of Him.
