1 Corinthians 1:18-28

18For the word of the cross is 1foolishness to 2those who 3are perishing, but to us who 4are being saved it is 5the power of God. 19For it is written, “6I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.” 207Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 8this age? Has not God 9made foolish the wisdom of 10the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God 11the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, 12God was well-pleased through the 13foolishness of the 14message preached to 15save those who believe. 22For indeed 16Jews ask for 17signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23but we preach 1819Christ crucified, 20to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles 21foolishness, 24but to those who are 22the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ 23the power of God and 24the wisdom of God. 25Because the 25foolishness of God is wiser than men, and 26the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26For 27consider your 28calling, brethren, that there were 29not many wise according to 30the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27but 31God has chosen the foolish things of 32the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of 33the world to shame the things which are strong, 28and the base things of 34the world and the despised God has chosen, 35the things that are not, so that He may 36nullify the things that are,
