1 Corinthians 1:14-20

141I thank God that I 2baptized none of you except 3Crispus and 4Gaius, 15so that no one would say you were baptized 5in my name. 16Now I did baptize also the 6household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 177For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, 8not in 9cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.

18For the word of the cross is 10foolishness to 11those who 12are perishing, but to us who 13are being saved it is 14the power of God. 19For it is written, “15I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.” 2016Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 17this age? Has not God 18made foolish the wisdom of 19the world?
