1Now Jehoramוִיהוֹרָ֣םvi.ho.RamH3088the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Ahabאַחְאָ֗ב'ach.'AvH256began to reignמָלַ֤ךְma.LakhH4427over Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478in Samariaבְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןbe.Sho.me.RonH8111the eighteenthשְׁמֹנֶ֣ה עֶשְׂרֵ֔הshe.mo.Neh 'es.RehH6240H8083yearבִּשְׁנַת֙bish.NatH8141of Jehoshaphatלִיהוֹשָׁפָ֖טli.ho.sha.FatH3092kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,and reignedוַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427twelveשְׁתֵּים־ עֶשְׂרֵ֥הshe.teim- 'es.RehH6240H8147yearsשָׁנָֽה׃sha.NahH8141.
2And he wroughtוַיַּעֲשֶׂ֤הvai.ya.'a.SehH6213evilהָרַע֙ha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֣יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068;but not like his fatherכְאָבִ֖יוkhe.'a.VivH1,and like his motherוּכְאִמּ֑וֹu.khe.'i.MoH517:for he put awayוַיָּ֙סַר֙vai.Ya.sarH5493the imageמַצְּבַ֣תma.tze.VatH4676of Baalהַבַּ֔עַלha.Ba.'alH1168that his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1had madeעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213.
4And Meshaוּמֵישַׁ֥עu.mei.Sha'H4338kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Moabמוֹאָ֖בmo.'AvH4124was a sheepmasterנֹקֵ֑דno.KedH5349,and renderedוְהֵשִׁ֤יבve.he.ShivH7725unto the kingלְמֶֽלֶךְ־le.Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478an hundredמֵאָה־me.'ah-H3967thousandאֶ֣לֶף'E.lefH505lambsכָּרִ֔יםka.RimH3733,and an hundredוּמֵ֥אָהu.Me.'ahH3967thousandאֶ֖לֶף'E.lefH505ramsאֵילִ֥ים'ei.LimH352,with the woolצָֽמֶר׃Tza.merH6785.
7And he wentH3212and sentוַיִּשְׁלַח֩vai.yish.LachH7971to Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֨טye.ho.sha.FatH3092the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֜הye.hu.DahH3063,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,The kingמֶ֤לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Moabמוֹאָב֙mo.'AvH4124hath rebelledפָּשַׁ֣עpa.Sha'H6586against me: wilt thou goH3212with me against Moabמוֹאָ֖בmo.'AvH4124to battleלַמִּלְחָמָ֑הla.mil.cha.MahH4421?And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,I will go upאֶעֱלֶ֔ה'e.'e.LehH5927: I am as thou art,my peopleכְּעַמִּ֥יke.'a.MiH5971as thy peopleכְעַמֶּ֖ךָkhe.'a.Me.khaH5971, andmy horsesכְּסוּסַ֥יke.su.SaiH5483as thy horsesכְּסוּסֶֽיךָ׃ke.su.Sei.khaH5483.
9So the kingמֶ֨לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לYis.ra.'ElH3478wentH3212,and the kingוּמֶֽלֶך־u.Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063,and the kingוּמֶ֣לֶךְu.Me.lekhH4428of Edomאֱד֔וֹם'e.DomH123:and they fetched a compassוַיָּסֹ֕בּוּvai.ya.So.buH5437of sevenשִׁבְעַ֣תshiv.'AtH7651days’יָמִ֑יםya.MimH3117journeyדֶּ֖רֶךְDe.rekhH1870:and there was no waterמַ֧יִםMa.yimH4325for the hostלַֽמַּחֲנֶ֛הla.ma.cha.NehH4264,and for the cattleוְלַבְּהֵמָ֖הve.la.be.he.MahH929that followedבְּרַגְלֵיהֶֽם׃be.rag.lei.HemH7272them.
10And the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Alasאֲהָ֕הּ'a.HahH162!that the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068hath calledH7121these threeלִשְׁלֹ֙שֶׁת֙lish.Lo.shetH7969kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428togetherH7121,to deliverלָתֵ֥תla.TetH5414them into the handבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of Moabמוֹאָֽב׃mo.'AvH4124!
11But Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֗טye.ho.sha.FatH3092saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Is therenot here a prophetנָבִיא֙na.Vi'H5030of the Lordלַֽיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068,that we may enquireוְנִדְרְשָׁ֥הve.nid.re.ShahH1875of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068by him? And oneאֶחָ֞ד'e.ChadH259of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israel’sיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478servantsמֵעַבְדֵ֤יme.'av.DeiH5650answeredוַ֠יַּעַןVai.ya.'anH6030and saidוַיֹּ֔אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Here isElishaאֱלִישָׁ֣ע'e.li.Sha'H477the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Shaphatשָׁפָ֔טsha.FatH8202,which pouredיָ֥צַקYa.tzakH3332waterמַ֖יִםMa.yimH4325on the handsיְדֵ֥יye.DeiH3027of Elijahאֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃'e.li.Ya.huH452.
12And Jehoshaphatיְה֣וֹשָׁפָ֔טye.Ho.o.sha.FatH3092saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559,The wordדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068isיֵ֥שׁyeshH3426with him. So the kingמֶ֧לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478and Jehoshaphatוִיהוֹשָׁפָ֖טvi.ho.sha.FatH3092and the kingוּמֶ֥לֶךְu.Me.lekhH4428of Edomאֱדֽוֹם׃'e.DomH123went downוַיֵּרְד֣וּvai.ye.re.DuH3381to him.
13And Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֜ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto the kingמֶ֤לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478,What have I to do with thee? getH3212thee to the prophetsנְבִיאֵ֣יne.vi.'EiH5030of thy fatherאָבִ֔יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1,and to the prophetsנְבִיאֵ֖יne.vi.'EiH5030of thy motherאִמֶּ֑ךָ'i.Me.khaH517.And the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Nay: for the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068hath calledH7121these threeלִשְׁלֹ֙שֶׁת֙lish.Lo.shetH7969kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428togetherH7121,to deliverלָתֵ֥תla.TetH5414them into the handבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of Moabמוֹאָֽב׃mo.'AvH4124.
14And Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֗ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Asthe Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָאוֹת֙tze.va.'OtH6635livethחַי־chai-H2416,beforeלְפָנָ֔יוle.fa.NavH6440whom I standעָמַ֣דְתִּי'a.Mad.tiH5975,surely, were it not thatלוּלֵ֛יlu.LeiH3884I regardנֹשֵׂ֑אno.Se'H5375the presenceפְּנֵ֛יpe.NeiH6440of Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֥טye.ho.sha.FatH3092the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063,I would not lookאַבִּ֥יט'a.BitH5027toward thee, nor seeאֶרְאֶֽךָּ׃'er.'E.kaH7200thee.
17For thus saithאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,Ye shall not seeתִרְא֥וּtir.'UH7200windר֙וּחַ֙Ru.achH7307,neither shall ye seeתִרְא֣וּtir.'UH7200rainגֶ֔שֶׁםGe.shemH1653;yet that valleyוְהַנַּ֥חַלve.ha.Na.chalH5158shall be filledיִמָּ֣לֵאyi.Ma.le'H4390with waterמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325,that ye may drinkוּשְׁתִיתֶ֛םu.she.ti.TemH8354,both ye, and your cattleוּמִקְנֵיכֶ֖םu.mik.nei.KhemH4735,and your beastsוּֽבְהֶמְתְּכֶֽם׃U.ve.hem.te.KhemH929.
19And ye shall smiteוְהִכִּיתֶ֞םve.hi.ki.TemH5221every fencedמִבְצָר֙miv.TzarH4013cityעִ֤יר'irH5892,and every choiceמִבְח֔וֹרmiv.ChorH4004cityעִ֣יר'irH5892,and shall fellתַּפִּ֔ילוּta.Pi.luH5307every goodטוֹב֙tOvH2896treeעֵ֥ץ'etzH6086,and stopתִּסְתֹּ֑מוּtis.To.muH5640all wellsמַעְיְנֵי־ma'.ye.nei-H4599of waterמַ֖יִםMa.yimH4325,and marתַּכְאִ֖בוּtakh.'I.vuH3510every goodהַטּוֹבָ֔הha.to.VahH2896pieceהַחֶלְקָ֣הha.chel.KahH2513of land with stonesבָּאֲבָנִֽים׃ba.'a.va.NimH68.
20And it came to pass in the morningבַבֹּ֙קֶר֙va.Bo.kerH1242,when the meat offeringהַמִּנְחָ֔הha.min.ChahH4503was offeredכַּעֲל֣וֹתka.'a.LotH5927,that, behold, there cameבָּאִ֖יםba.'ImH935waterמַ֥יִםMa.yimH4325by the wayמִדֶּ֣רֶךְmi.De.rekhH1870of Edomאֱד֑וֹם'e.DomH123,and the countryהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776was filledוַתִּמָּלֵ֥אva.ti.ma.Le'H4390with waterהַמָּֽיִם׃ha.Ma.yimH4325.
21And when all the Moabitesמוֹאָב֙mo.'AvH4124heardשָֽׁמְע֔וּsha.me.'UH8085that the kingsהַמְּלָכִ֖יםha.me.la.KhimH4428were come upעָל֥וּ'a.LuH5927to fightלְהִלָּ֣חֶםle.hi.La.chemH3898against them, they gatheredוַיִּצָּעֲק֗וּvai.yi.tza.'a.KuH6817all that were able to putחֹגֵ֤רcho.GerH2296on armourחֲגֹרָה֙cha.go.RahH2290,and upwardוָמַ֔עְלָהva.Ma'.lahH4605,and stoodוַיַּעַמְד֖וּvai.ya.'am.DuH5975in the borderהַגְּבֽוּל׃ha.ge.VulH1366.
22And they rose up earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּvai.yash.Ki.muH7925in the morningבַבֹּ֔קֶרva.Bo.kerH1242,and the sunוְהַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁve.ha.She.meshH8121shoneזָרְחָ֣הza.re.ChahH2224upon the waterהַמָּ֑יִםha.Ma.yimH4325,and the Moabitesמוֹאָ֥בmo.'AvH4124sawוַיִּרְא֨וּvai.yir.'UH7200the waterהַמַּ֖יִםha.Ma.yimH4325on the other sideמִנֶּ֛גֶדmi.Ne.gedH5048asredאֲדֻמִּ֥ים'a.du.MimH122as bloodכַּדָּֽם׃ka.DamH1818:
23And they saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559, This isbloodדָּ֣םdamH1818:the kingsהַמְּלָכִ֔יםha.me.la.KhimH4428are surelyהָחֳרֵ֤בho.cho.RevH2717slainנֶֽחֶרְבוּ֙ne.cher.VuH2717,and they have smittenוַיַּכּ֖וּvai.ya.KuH5221oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376anotherרֵעֵ֑הוּre.'E.huH7453:now therefore, Moabמוֹאָֽב׃mo.'AvH4124,to the spoilלַשָּׁלָ֖לla.sha.LalH7998.
24And when they cameוַיָּבֹאוּ֮vai.ya.vo.'UH935to the campמַחֲנֵ֣הma.cha.NehH4264of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478,the Israelitesיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478rose upוַיָּקֻ֤מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965and smoteוַיַּכּ֣וּvai.ya.KuH5221the Moabitesמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124,so that they fledוַיָּנֻ֖סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127beforeמִפְּנֵיהֶ֑םmi.pe.nei.HemH6440them: but they went forwardוַיַּכּוּva.yakoH5221smitingוְהַכּ֖וֹתve.ha.KotH5221the Moabitesמוֹאָֽב׃mo.'AvH4124, even in their country.
25And they beat downיַהֲרֹ֡סוּya.ha.Ro.suH2040the citiesוְהֶעָרִ֣יםve.he.'a.RimH5892,and on every goodט֠וֹבָהToahH2896pieceחֶלְקָ֣הchel.KahH2513of land castיַשְׁלִ֨יכוּyash.Li.khuH7993every manאִישׁ־'ish-H376his stoneאַבְנ֜וֹ'av.NoH68,and filledוּמִלְא֗וּהָu.mil.'U.haH4390it; and they stoppedיִסְתֹּ֙מוּ֙yis.To.muH5640all the wellsמַעְיַן־ma'.yan-H4599of waterמַ֤יִםMa.yimH4325,and felledיַפִּ֔ילוּya.Pi.luH5307all the goodט֣וֹבTovH2896treesעֵֽץ־'etz-H6086:only in Kir–harasethH7025leftהִשְׁאִ֧ירhish.'IrH7604they the stonesאֲבָנֶ֛יהָ'a.va.Nei.haH68thereof; howbeit the slingersהַקַּלָּעִ֖יםha.ka.la.'ImH7051went aboutוַיָּסֹ֥בּוּvai.ya.So.buH5437it,and smoteוַיַּכּֽוּהָ׃vai.ya.Ku.haH5221it.
26And when the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124sawוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200that the battleהַמִּלְחָמָ֑הha.mil.cha.MahH4421was too soreחָזַ֥קcha.ZakH2388for him, he tookוַיִּקַּ֣חvai.yi.KachH3947with him sevenשְׁבַע־she.va'-H7651hundredמֵא֨וֹתme.'otH3967menאִ֜ישׁ'ishH376that drewשֹׁ֣לֵֽףSho.lefH8025swordsחֶ֗רֶבChe.revH2719,to break throughלְהַבְקִ֛יעַle.hav.Ki.a'H1234evenunto the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Edomאֱד֖וֹם'e.DomH123:but they couldיָכֹֽלוּ׃ya.Kho.luH3201not.
27Then he tookוַיִּקַּח֩vai.yi.KachH3947his eldestהַבְּכ֜וֹרha.be.KhorH1060sonבְּנ֨וֹbe.NoH1121that should have reignedיִמְלֹ֣ךְyim.LokhH4427in his stead, and offeredוַיַּעֲלֵ֤הוּvai.ya.'a.Le.huH5927him fora burnt offeringעֹלָה֙'o.LahH5930upon the wallהַ֣חֹמָ֔הha.cho.MahH2346.And there was greatגָּד֖וֹלga.DolH1419indignationקֶצֶף־ke.tzef-H7110against Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478:and they departedוַיִּסְעוּ֙vai.yis.'UH5265from him, and returnedוַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּvai.ya.Shu.vuH7725to their ownlandלָאָֽרֶץ׃ פla.'A.retzH776.
