4And he brought inוַיָּבֵ֥אvai.ya.Ve'H935the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִ֖יםha.ko.ha.NimH3548and the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֑םhal.vi.YimH3881,and gathered them togetherוַיַּֽאַסְפֵ֖םvai.ya.'as.FemH622into the eastהַמִּזְרָֽח׃ha.miz.RachH4217streetלִרְח֥וֹבlir.ChovH7339,

5And saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Hearשְׁמָע֣וּנִיshe.ma.'U.niH8085me, ye Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֑םhal.vi.YimH3881,sanctifyהִֽתְקַדְּשׁ֗וּhit.ka.de.ShuH6942now yourselves, and sanctifyוְקַדְּשׁוּ֙ve.ka.de.ShuH6942the houseבֵּ֤יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of your fathersאֲבֹתֵיכֶ֔ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1,and carry forthוְהוֹצִ֥יאוּve.ho.Tzi.'uH3318the filthinessהַנִּדָּ֖הha.ni.DahH5079out of the holyהַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ha.Ko.deshH6944place.

6For our fathersאֲבֹתֵ֗ינוּ'a.vo.Tei.nuH1have trespassedמָעֲל֣וּma.'a.LuH4603,and doneוְעָשׂ֥וּve.'a.SuH6213that which wasevilהָרַ֛עha.Ra'H7451in the eyesבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָֽה־Yah.weh-H3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430,and have forsakenוַיַּֽעַזְבֻ֑הוּvai.ya.'az.Vu.huH5800him, and have turned awayוַיַּסֵּ֧בּוּvai.yas.Se.buH5437their facesפְנֵיהֶ֛םfe.nei.HemH6440from the habitationמִמִּשְׁכַּ֥ןmi.mish.KanH4908of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,and turnedוַיִּתְּנוּ־vai.yi.te.nu-H5414theirbacksעֹֽרֶף׃'O.refH6203.

7Also they have shut upסָֽגְר֞וּsa.ge.RuH5462the doorsדַּלְת֣וֹתdal.TotH1817of the porchהָאוּלָ֗םha.'u.LamH197,and put outוַיְכַבּוּ֙vay.kha.BuH3518the lampsהַנֵּר֔וֹתha.ne.RotH5216,and have not burnedהִקְטִ֑ירוּhik.Ti.ruH6999incenseוּקְטֹ֖רֶתu.ke.To.retH7004nor offeredהֶעֱל֣וּhe.'e.LuH5927burnt offeringsוְעֹלָה֙ve.'o.LahH5930in the holyבַקֹּ֔דֶשׁva.Ko.deshH6944placeunto the Godלֵאלֹהֵ֖יle.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

8Wherefore the wrathקֶ֣צֶףKe.tzefH7110of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068was upon Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemוִירוּשָׁלִָ֑םvi.ru.sha.LimH3389,and he hath deliveredוַיִּתְּנֵ֤םvai.yi.te.NemH5414them to troubleלְזַֽעֲוָה֙liz.va.'ahH2113 H2189,to astonishmentלְשַׁמָּ֣הle.sha.MahH8047,and to hissingוְלִשְׁרֵקָ֔הve.lish.re.KahH8322,as ye seeרֹאִ֖יםro.'ImH7200with your eyesבְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃be.'ei.nei.KhemH5869.

9For, lo, our fathersאֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ'a.vo.Tei.nuH1have fallenנָפְל֥וּna.fe.LuH5307by the swordבֶּחָ֑רֶבbe.Cha.revH2719,and our sonsוּבָנֵ֨ינוּu.va.Nei.nuH1121and our daughtersוּבְנוֹתֵ֧ינוּu.ve.no.Tei.nuH1323and our wivesוְנָשֵׁ֛ינוּve.na.Shei.nuH802arein captivityבַּשְּׁבִ֖יba.she.ViH7628for this.

10Now it isin mine heartלְבָבִ֔יle.va.ViH3824to makeלִכְר֣וֹתlikh.RotH3772a covenantבְּרִ֔יתbe.RitH1285with the Lordלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,that his fierceחֲר֥וֹןcha.RonH2740wrathאַפּֽוֹ׃'a.PoH639may turn awayוְיָשֹׁ֥בve.ya.ShoH7725from us.

11My sonsבָּנַ֕יba.NaiH1121,be not now negligentתִּשָּׁל֑וּti.sha.LuH7952:for the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068hath chosenבָּחַ֣רba.CharH977you to standלַעֲמֹ֤דla.'a.ModH5975beforeלְפָנָיו֙le.fa.NavH6440him, to serveלְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹle.Sha.re.ToH8334him, and that ye should ministerמְשָׁרְתִ֥יםme.sha.re.TimH8334unto him, and burn incenseוּמַקְטִרִֽים׃ סu.mak.ti.RimH6999.

14And of the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Hemanהֵימָ֖ןhei.ManH1968;Jehielיְחִיאֵ֣לye.chu.'elH3171,and Shimeiוְשִׁמְעִ֑י סve.shim.'IH8096:and of the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Jeduthunיְדוּת֔וּןye.du.TunH3038;Shemaiahשְׁמַֽעְיָ֖הshe.ma'.YahH8098,and Uzzielוְעֻזִּיאֵֽל׃ve.'u.zi.'ElH5816.

15And they gatheredוַיַּֽאַסְפ֤וּvai.ya.'as.FuH622their brethrenאֲחֵיהֶם֙'a.chei.HemH251,and sanctifiedוַיִּֽתְקַדְּשׁ֔וּvai.yit.ka.de.ShuH6942themselves, and cameוַיָּבֹ֥אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935,according to the commandmentכְמִצְוַת־khe.mitz.vat-H4687of the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,by the wordsבְּדִבְרֵ֣יbe.div.ReiH1697of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,to cleanseלְטַהֵ֖רle.ta.HerH2891the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
