2Then Asaאָסָ֜א'a.Sa'H609brought outוַיֹּצֵ֨אvai.yo.Tze'H3318silverכֶּ֣סֶףKe.sefH3701and goldוְזָהָ֗בve.za.HavH2091out of the treasuresמֵאֹֽצְר֛וֹתme.'o.tze.RotH214of the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068and of the king’sהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428houseוּבֵ֣יתu.VeitH1004,and sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֗חvai.yish.LachH7971to Ben–hadadH1130kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Syriaאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758,that dweltהַיּוֹשֵׁ֥בhai.yo.ShevH3427at Damascusבְּדַרְמֶ֖שֶׂקbe.dar.Me.sekH1834,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

3There isa leagueבְּרִית֙be.RitH1285between me and thee, as there wasbetween my fatherאָבִ֖י'a.ViH1and thy fatherאָבִ֑יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1:behold, I have sentשָׁלַ֤חְתִּֽיsha.Lach.tiH7971thee silverכֶּ֣סֶףKe.sefH3701and goldוְזָהָ֔בve.za.HavH2091;goH3212,breakהָפֵ֣רha.FerH6565thy leagueבְּרִֽיתְךָ֗be.ri.te.KhaH1285with Baashaבַּעְשָׁא֙ba'.Sha'H1201kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,that he may departוְיַעֲלֶ֖הve.ya.'a.LehH5927from me.

4And Ben–hadadH1130hearkenedוַיִּשְׁמַ֨עvai.yish.Ma'H8085unto kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Asaאָסָ֗א'a.Sa'H609,and sentוַ֠יִּשְׁלַחVai.yish.lachH7971the captainsשָׂרֵ֨יsa.ReiH8269of his armiesהַחֲיָלִ֤יםha.cha.ya.LimH2428against the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;and they smoteוַיַּכּוּ֙vai.ya.KuH5221Ijonעִיּ֣וֹןi.YonH5859,and Danדָּ֔ןDanH1835,and Abel–maimH66,and all the storeמִסְכְּנ֖וֹתmis.ke.NotH4543citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892of Naphtaliנַפְתָּלִֽי׃naf.ta.LiH5321.

5And it came to pass, when Baashaבַּעְשָׁ֔אba'.Sha'H1201heardכִּשְׁמֹ֣עַkish.Mo.a'H8085it,that he left offוַיֶּחְדַּ֕לvai.yech.DalH2308buildingמִבְּנ֖וֹתmi.be.NotH1129of Ramahהָרָמָ֑הha.ra.MahH7414,and let his workמְלַאכְתּֽוֹ׃ סme.lakh.ToH4399ceaseוַיַּשְׁבֵּ֖תvai.yash.BetH7673.

6Then Asaוְאָסָ֣אve.'a.Sa'H609the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428tookלָקַח֙la.KachH3947all Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063;and they carried awayוַיִּשְׂא֞וּvai.yis.'UH5375the stonesאַבְנֵ֤י'av.NeiH68of Ramahהָֽרָמָה֙ha.ra.MahH7414,and the timberעֵצֶ֔יהָ'e.Tzei.haH6086thereof, wherewith Baashaבַּעְשָׁ֑אba'.Sha'H1201was buildingבָּנָ֖הba.NahH1129;and he builtוַיִּ֣בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129therewith Gebaגֶּ֖בַעGe.va'H1387and Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּֽה׃ סha.mitz.PahH4709.

7And at that timeוּבָעֵ֣תu.va.'EtH6256Hananiחֲנָ֣נִיcha.Na.niH2607the seerH7200cameבָּ֚אba'H935to Asaאָסָ֖א'a.Sa'H609kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Because thou hast reliedבְּהִשָּׁ֨עֶנְךָ֜be.hi.Sha.'en.khaH8172on the kingמֶ֤לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Syriaאֲרָם֙'a.RamH758,and not reliedנִשְׁעַ֙נְתָּ֙nish.'An.taH8172on the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068thy Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,therefore is the hostחֵ֥ילcheilH2428of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Syriaאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758escapedנִמְלַ֛טnim.LatH4422out of thine handמִיָּדֶֽךָ׃mi.ya.De.khaH3027.

8Were not the Ethiopiansהַכּוּשִׁ֣יםha.ku.ShimH3569and the Lubimsוְהַלּוּבִ֗יםve.ha.lu.VimH3864a hugeלָרֹ֛בla.RoH7230hostלְחַ֧יִל׀le.Cha.yilH2428,with veryמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966manyלְהַרְבֵּ֣הle.har.BehH7235chariotsלְרֶ֥כֶבle.Re.khevH7393and horsemenוּלְפָרָשִׁ֖יםu.le.fa.ra.ShimH6571?yet, because thou didst relyוּבְהִשָּֽׁעֶנְךָ֥u.ve.hi.sha.'en.KhaH8172on the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,he deliveredנְתָנָ֥םne.ta.NamH5414them into thine handבְּיָדֶֽךָ׃be.ya.De.khaH3027.

9For the eyesעֵינָ֞יו'ei.NavH5869of the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068run to and froמְשֹׁטְט֤וֹתme.sho.te.TotH7751throughout the whole earthהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776,to shew himself strongלְ֠הִתְחַזֵּקLe.hit.cha.zekH2388in the behalf of themwhose heartלְבָבָ֥םle.va.VamH3824isperfectשָׁלֵ֛םsha.LemH8003toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishlyנִסְכַּ֣לְתָּnis.Kal.taH5528:therefore from henceforthמֵעַ֔תָּהme.'A.tahH6258thou shalt haveיֵ֥שׁyeshH3426warsמִלְחָמֽוֹת׃mil.cha.MotH4421.
