Context of Hebrews 3:15
13Encourage each other every day while you have the opportunity. If you do this, none of you will be deceived by sin and become stubborn. 14After all, we will remain Christ’s partners only if we continue to hold on to our original confidence until the end. Scripture says, “If you hear God speak today, don’t be stubborn. Don’t be stubborn like those who rebelled.” 16Who heard God and rebelled? All those whom Moses led out of Egypt rebelled. 17With whom was God angry for 40 years? He was angry with those who sinned and died in the desert.

See on Hebrews 3:7-9; (note) and Hebrews 3:12; (note).Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 15While it is said, Today - That is, persevere as long as life lasts, or as long as it can be said “today;” and by persevering in this manner you will have evidence that you are the friends of the Redeemer. This is a quotation from Psalm 95:7. Paul means, undoubtedly, to make use of this language himself as a direct exhortation to the Christians to whom he was writing. He entreats them, therefore, as long as it could be said “today,” or as long as life…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 14-19Verses 14-19 The saints' privilege is, they are made partakers of Christ, that is, of the Spirit, the nature, graces, righteousness, and life of Christ; they are interested in all Christ is, in all he has done, or will do. The same spirit with which Christians set out in the ways of God, they should maintain unto the end. Perseverance in faith is the best evidence of the sincerity of our faith. Hearing the word often is a means of salvation, yet, if not…Read the comment
