Context of 1 John 2:27
25That is the real life that continues for ever. And that is what God has promised to give to us. 26Some people are trying to lead you away from God's true message. I am writing these things to you so that you know about these people. But Christ has given the Holy Spirit to you, and he continues to help you. So you do not need people to teach you what is true. The Holy Spirit himself teaches you everything about God's message. He helps you to know what is true. He does not tell you any lies. So you must remember what he has taught you. Continue to live together with Christ. 28Yes, my children, continue to live with Christ. Then we will not be ashamed when he returns to this world. We will not be afraid to meet him. 29You know that Christ only does what is right. So you should know this: Everyone who continues to do what is right has become a child of God.

Ye need not that any man teach you - The Gnostics, who pretended to the highest illumination, could bring no proof that they were divinely taught, nor had they any thing in their teaching worthy the acceptance of the meanest Christian; therefore they had no need of that, nor of any other teaching but that which the same anointing…Read the comment

Abideth in you - The meaning is, that the influence on your heart and life, which results from the fact that you are anointed of God, permanently abides with you, and will keep you from dangerous error. The apostle evidently meant to say that he felt assured that they would not be seduced from the truth, and that his confidence in regard to this was placed in the fact that…Read the comment

The Spirit of truth will not lie; and he teaches all things in the present dispensation, all things necessary to our knowledge of God in…Read the comment
