Context of Mark 1:11
9In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. 10As soon as he came up out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well-pleased.” 12Immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness. 13He was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and the angels were serving him.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 9-13Verses 9-13 Christ's baptism was his first public appearance, after he had long lived unknown. How much hidden worth is there, which in this world is not known! But sooner or later it shall be known, as Christ was. He took upon himself the likeness of sinful flesh; and thus, for our sakes, he sanctified himself, that we also might be sanctified, and be baptized with him, Joh 17:19.
