Context of Luke 23:33
31For if such things are done when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?” 32Two other criminals were also led away to be executed with him. So when they came to the place that is called “The Skull,” they crucified him there, along with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34[But Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”] Then they threw dice to divide his clothes. 35The people also stood there watching, but the rulers ridiculed him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 32-43Verses 32-43 As soon as Christ was fastened to the cross, he prayed for those who crucified him. The great thing he died to purchase and procure for us, is the forgiveness of sin. This he prays for. Jesus was crucified between two thieves; in them were shown the different effects the cross of Christ would have upon the children of men in the preaching the gospel. One malefactor was hardened to the last. No troubles of themselves will change a wicked…Read the comment

Another suggested location is Gordon’s Calvary, a rock formation near the Garden Tomb, though scholars consider this less likely. They crucified him there: People who were crucified were often tied to the cross or nailed through the wrists and ankles…Read the comment
